Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Boni had 5.7 BsR last year which is excellent. Navarro had -5.1. No he's saying he's good for a fat ass catcher. You have to compare him to other fat ass catchers.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Huge difference between getting BABIP'd and throwing walks. And sequencing thrown in just for fun
theblujay Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Huge difference between getting BABIP'd and throwing walks. Well I've watched most of his starts this season and every time it looks like he has great stuff and is so close to figuring it out, but then has a classic Morrow meltdown. That's why I think this is who he is. Inconsistent and will always struggle with command. Today is just an example of the same struggles that he's had for years.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Morrow 44 pitches, 18 strikes WTF
theblujay Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Only if you look at saber stats. He has 0.00 ERA and no hits against. Must be really good!!!!!! Or if you, you know, watch the game.
Doc Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Navarro is a catcher and he's slow what's the big deal? I'm more worried about Morrow and our entire pitching staff.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Goins can't control how bad of a hitter he is, he just doesn't have the talent. He's a bad hitter, not his fault, but he's a bad hitter. This.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 No he's saying he's good for a fat ass catcher. You have to compare him to other fat ass catchers. Maybe he is good for a FA catcher, but overall he still provides negative value on the base paths. Of all catchers with 250 PA last year, only 8 catchers were positive value in base ruining, only 3 were above 1 and the highest was 1.4. Navarro was second last ahead of only Lucroy... So actually he's not even good for a fat catcher.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 He can't f***ing control that hes slow. Hes a f***ing catcher! He can still make good reads and smart decesions like he does. Hes in no way a dumb base runner. And in no way a bad base runner. Maybe wording it as "He's a negative asset on the bases" would be better.
LOVethISTEam Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Keep clogging up those basepaths, Morrow!
8D Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 morrow gonna morrow same old morrow this season.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 People on twitter act like Goins is a great asset when he makes good defensively plays. They don't realize that he has to make elite defensive plays just to justify being replacement value (and even still he has negative WAR right now).
Convo Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Is Morrow getting paid to screw us?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Worst framing job ever? The f*** Navarro that was right down the middle!
Doc Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 6 walks really? Man oh man can't we just breeze through one game? Too much to ask?
Convo Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Navarro is definitely below average catcher - with that said he's a significant upgrade over JP
8D Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 that sucks as a catcher. expect a soft breaking ball on the outer half, and then get a morrow fastball down the plate, lol
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Anyone swinging at anything until they get to two strikes from Morrow is doing themselves a huge disservice
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 WTF is Carp doing trying to bail Morrow out?
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Maybe he is good for a FA catcher, but overall he still provides negative value on the base paths. Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Exactly. Hes a piece of s*** and needs to be replaced. Nobody understands why he plays everyday. http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view1/1357165/confused-o.gif
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Exactly. Hes a piece of s*** and needs to be replaced. Nobody understands why he plays everyday. lol @ missing the point of his post.
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Did you miss the point? Navarro is a bad baserunner, its not his fault, but he's bad. Well he could be less fat.
Convo Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 So people need to stop nitpicking. Because if people are really complaing about a catchers speed were in more trouble than I thought. Yall need Jesus. Wasn't even remotely referring to his speed. Was referring to his framing / catching abilities.
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 This ump isnt helping things.
theblujay Verified Member Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 This is Morrow. This is what he will always be
