Not a good start for Colby and his slumps tend to be prolonged

He's managed to hit 4 HR but he's also striking out 33.7% of the time and hitting under .200. OBP .244

He's 0 WAR both offensively and defensively

How long before he comes around?

I dont consider it a slump. This is just the way he hits. Every once in awhile he will sparkle and hit a few HR and bring the average up, but generally this is how he is most of the time,

Give it until the all star break.

Honestly, I'd kinda like most of his value to come defensively this season. We'd be able to resign him much more easily. Something like a low batting average with lots of power to give him a solid wOBA and then a repeat of last year defensively would hopefully give him a lot of value but drive his contract down.

I want him to be a monster in both aspects of the game, it would be nice to see the Jays win.

That's overthinking it IMHO

If he continues being a completely crappy hitter 1/2 the time I don't think I want him going forward for the next 3-4 years. I really don't. In that case I'd rather keep Melky and give Gose the CF job, unless we could get someone else entirely. I think. Colby doesn't make it easy to decide, and it don't know what he will cost this off season.

I'm really leery of resigning him to a fat contract, but do you get anything better for him at the deadline as a rental than the pick?

Sadly, this off season that just passed would have been the best time to trade him

If you'd have known that Melky was going to be really good you would have more seriously considered it. But we didn't know.

I've never been excited about Colby's bat, but when he hits those bombs it's a pretty sight and I tend to forgive him lol

I'm not sure about giving him the contract, to me it has wells written all over it.

Huh, that's a good point.

It's funny to think that without Melky returning to form this off season would somehow look worse.

Yep. Colby had a great year and other CF were getting lots of years and $ this off season. Could have gotten something for him.

And yeah, Bautista and Cabrera are pretty much the entire offense most games.

Encarnacion and Reyes are no slouches either. Just starting a bit slow.

And Lind and Rasmus and Lawrie...s***, that's 7 of 9 that aren't slouches. Problem is, they have been either slouches or injured so far this year and usually that's the way it works out for most teams. Except the Red Sox last year of course.

Well I didn't mean that we only have 2 good hitters. We've just only had 2 off to good starts. The offence will be good. It's the SP that still worries me.

If the offense stinks, for whatever reason, we know you are one of those who jinxed it and there have been a few.

He's one of those guys with enticing talent.....those easy power strokes...the way he can run so effortlessly...but looks like he will never get it together.

Everyone knows you can throw Colby a breaking ball and he won't hit it or won't keep it fair, there is serious flaws in his swing that can be taken advantage off.

I also heard his dad say on twitter Colby was looking to steal 30 bags this year....get realistic bud

Lol. Colby has never been a good base stealer.
