theblujay Verified Member Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 The guy knows his role, knows his strengths, knows his limits and gets the job done. He works fast, throws strikes and makes them put it in play. The guy's a professional.
theblujay Verified Member Posted April 19, 2014 Author Posted April 19, 2014 This isn't an overreaction to a SSS hot start. We know what to expect from him because he's done it for years. Just a solid player who really knows how to pitch.
theblujay Verified Member Posted April 19, 2014 Author Posted April 19, 2014 I honestly feel like you'd be making the exact opposite of this post if he'd tanked the first four. Ok thanks for your input
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Pretty good returns for both of us so far on the Joyce/Buehrle swap. Yup. Looks like it was a good swap for us both.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Love his pace, though he didn't have a great start today, 3 BB and a HBP pretty uncharacteristic. ... A 7IP 0ER 4H performance is a great start.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 13 straight seasons with 200IP They don`t come more durable than Mark Buehrle.

I decided to look up if Buehrle has ever had a better 4 game stretch and while he had a great stretch in 2005 and 2001 this is in the top 3 or 4. Pretty impressive.
Caper Verified Member Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Last year.... at this point, I didn't think the team could give him away. I still don't know how he can be so effective with how slow he pitches.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Wiill be interesting to see what kind of interest he`ll get at the deadline this year. Would be a no brainer to deal him if we`re out of it.
The_DH Verified Member Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Gotta admire his style. True professional.
bzapple Verified Member Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 He's racking up the winz and he's got vetrin presents through the roof.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I'll definitely be keeping this avatar for a while if he keeps pitching anywhere near this well

Unless they're in it, which AA has to believe in this season or he's shitcanned, so he probably won't be moved.
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I'm buying a Mark Buehrle jersey next time I go to the jays shop. Let's all vote him for the all star game as soon as we can vote.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Has been impressive. Its likely he will resort back to regular numbers before long. But he got off to such an awful start last year that his overall numbers will probably look much better. And last year I would take any day. Except for April. Everyone can have an outlier year that just doesn't jive with their normal performance. Never know. The younger pitchers should learn from him on how to conduct themselves on the mound. Get the ball and pitch. Work quickly.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 If we're out of it, it's a no brain deal. What if we're still in it? Do we think about it if some of our AA/AAA guys are ready to make the jump to the majors? If we're still in it of course we don't trade him.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Be ready for "Buehrle regression to the mean thread" or "The luck is gone"
Sparky12 Verified Member Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Pretty remarkable how good buhrle has been this year hope he keeps having success, if only we could get some consistency out of dickey

His only inconsistency is his BS excuses, pick one and stick with it.
shortstop Verified Member Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 and he's been doing all this since he was 20/21...remarkable...hopefully will get his 200th career win later this year... who knows, maybe he'll pitch until he's 40/41 like Glavine....

He probably will. There will always be a spot for a 200 innings, 4-5 ERA type in the back of somebody's rotation. The dude just does not break down (knock on wood).
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 3 of him and you could have a 5-6 man pen and one f***ing hell of a bench! Fill it with scrubs AA ! Wink Wink, nudge nudge, Say no more ! Lol
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 6.2 innings of pure craftiness, 3.11 xFIP. I love this man.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Remember when a lot of posters were saying RR would be better than him two winters ago, lol.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Only reason why he was s*** last year in the 1st half was because his catcher was the future HOF'er Arencibia.
