AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I'm so glad that all 30 MLB teams are participating in the Derek Jeter farewell tour. My only complaint is that there isn't enough coverage. This should be the top headline every day until October. Today will be the last time that Derek Jeter will play the second game of a home opening series. It's a sad day for baseball.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I think he deserves all the tributes he gets. Second best player to play SS of my baseball generation (sorry I hated Cal I'd take Jeter)

Brenner Verified Member Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 We should target Escobar, almost as good as Reyes/Jeter but much cheaper.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) technically Arods better then him that is the one that I have ahead of him. And if others kept playing until after 35 they'd be losing a shitload of wins too. Jeter from age 21 to 35 is what I judge him on. More importantly during that time...he stayed in the lineup. I don't blame him for the extra $100M he picked up for being the King of New York. Please also note that I said "Player to play SS" and not best SS. Edited April 8, 2014 by TheHurl

Every team should give him a gift basket with some autographed memorabilia.

AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 Jeter just got pulled in a blowout to Baltimore. It's the last time Jeter will ever be pulled in the second game of a home opening series. This is a sad day for baseball.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Since 1980, just SS: Omar Vizquel is a HOF shortstop
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 We'd have to give up a king's ransom to get Escobar. A talented, cheap controllable healthy shortstop that produces 4 war a season? It's not like a GM is just going to give one of those away.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
