How would they be taking 2 steps forward in 2014? Syndergaard hasn't come up yet, d'Arnaud might be made of glass and hasn't proven anything, Hech didn't show anything with the bat last year, Alvarez still can't K anyone. They also seem to have trouble signing FA's, so I don't know if they'd be competing this year or next regardless of what they did. I'm not supporting all the moves but the reality is all of the players they traded could still be unimpressive players.

Several would still have held high trade value. D'arnaud/Synder for starters. Plus, the payroll flexibility would still be there. No matter what, they still would have been way better off anyway you slice it. You say they have trouble signing FAs, but you need to have the payroll to even get to that point. Plus, I hardly think a player will turn down money, Drew is still available for instance. Now, I don't see any point to signing him at this point, I don't consider him a long term option and I think this team needs 2 ace SPs ahead of Drew right now but there appears to be financial constraints.

For some reason this made me laugh. I don't know why any fan would be anxious to start a rebuild... are you really looking forward to not having any chance to compete for 5-10 years?

You say that as if we have a chance to compete on our current path. The "Blue Jays way" has produced 20 years of no playoffs and has turned the franchise from champions to completely irrelevant. I for one am tired of the half-assed "reloading" that has only delivered mediocrity. Blow it up, fire AA and Beeston, bring in competent replacements, and build this franchise the right way instead of always looking for Band-Aids and quick fixes.

I'm willing to wait for a real winner. I'm not willing to sit through pointless mediocrity year after year.

Nope. I didn't say that at all, read my full post.

Yeah, I reread it and realized I missed the line about "seeing the humor in that question."

My point still stands though. Yes, blowing it up means sitting through some lean years - but that's STILL preferable to the past 20 years of directionless mediocrity.

Such negativity after 1 loss. I get that our pitching is a huge question mark/liability, but why not let at least a couple months of the season play out before the "blow it up" remarks?

Almost finished above .500 against 2 good teams. Were in the first week, chill out.

Just saw the Jays hitters have a .243 babip, as opposed to their pitchers giving up a .366 babip. So definitely (bad) luck has been a factor so far. That's a huge difference.

Goins 1-16 hitting the ball like a girl.

Jays BABIP - Goins AB = High BABIP overall
