Sure he had one subpar performance and seemingly got squeezed into a walk tonight.

He threw 25 innings last year!

 

The stuff is undeniable but the control is definitely not on the level of a Janssen. He nibbles too much. That slider is just filthy. Throw it consistently for strikes and you've got a gem.

Go back to his CWS days before he got injured with us then, sub 3 FIP over 110 innings with 11+ k/9...

The only way we keep Santos beyond this year is if either he or Janssen have Mariano Rivera like seasons. If it's Janssen then he'd walk as a free agent. If it's Santos then his option would be a steal.

I think we were mostly in shock that Gibbons pulled Buerhle and we took it out on Santos, who really did get squeezed.

Problem is, he doesn't seem to have anything other than that slider which gets him into trouble often. If i recall right, he tried to close in 2012 and pressure got to him and he got hurt.
