Caper Verified Member Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 Yeah, Texas and St. Louis are pretty bad organizations. Texas starting catcher is JPA
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Texas starting catcher is JPA Good God Is that official?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Texas starting catcher is JPA To be fair it's because is Soto significantly injured They signed JP for about 1M to be a backup
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 I just can't understand how people think that a group of guys smart enough to win on $50-60 million are suddenly going to not be smart anymore if payroll goes up. Sure, they'll take more risks, and may swing and miss more often, but TB and Oakland would be scary good on, say, $130 million. By the way, your thanks line is spilling over Don't let it go to your head. LOL
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 If admin would show up some this this year we could fix it...

The take more risks is the thing.. and will get encumbered with big contracts. Shields would still be there on a big contract, no Myers and Odorizzi Right now they trade most of their stars before they get too expensive, getting top young talent in return.... this is in fact the most effective way to manage a team. With more money, more big contracts, fewer top prospects = encumbering the teams future

Baseball was really set up to compensate (a bit less so with the new draft comp rules) small market teams. They have really just played that system like a fiddle and have had success. It helps a lot that there is no pressure to do otherwise. St Louis of course is the best org in baseball and they never did succumb to the pressure to sign Pujols....and they are better off and more rewarded without him.

Caper Verified Member Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 You're a very bad poster. Wait who is starting for Texas at catcher tomorrow? Or is that I just don't naw on pecker like your little herd does?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 I cannot believe there are actually people who would root against their team just to see management fired. If we're within a game or two of the playoffs in the last two weeks... are you actually going to hope that they f*** up and blow it? That's pretty sad. There is nothing more fun than being the fan of a team who has a shot at contending. It takes over your entire life. If they win you have a f***ing awesome day the next day. That's what a true sports fan is all about. It's fine to be critical of the team, but you never actually root against your f***ing team.
Caper Verified Member Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 I know you just started watching baseball last year, so you should probably take my advice right now: you're embarrassing yourself right now. Yes... haha AA.... lets extend Josh Johnson... Yan Gomes sucks... Better?

I don't get the "I hope Goins gets 500 PA and hits .170 just to prove me right" guys nor the "I hope they lose even more games this year so AA gets fired" guys. I really don't.

It's really, really pathetic actually... but hey... that's the hive.

We don't know what he will do Do you take the $30M and extend Myers and Zobrist long term, forgoing the chance to trade them for several top prospects, or....???
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Thank you for saying this. I don't get the "I hope Goins gets 500 PA and hits .170 just to prove me right" guys nor the "I hope they lose even more games this year so AA gets fired" guys. I really don't. It's pathetic and says a lot about the individual saying it. Sounds like a massive insecurity complex rising to the surface. Do I believe Ryan Goins is going to "stick"? Hell no, I think that they're insane for running him out there as the everyday starter. Do I hope he defies the odds and actually becomes a good baseball player? Of course I do! That would be f***ing incredible. My dad would probably beat the s*** out of me if I ever flip-flopped between teams. I cannot respect a person who abandons their team just because they disagree with management. Imagine a Liverpool fan jumping ship and becoming a United fan in the 90s/2000s. They'd be hung in the streets.
Caper Verified Member Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 Jesus Christ, climb on down off that high horse. Everyone enjoys the game in their own way. No way. Enjoy the game my way or f*** off.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 No way. Enjoy the game my way or f*** off. I've been laughing at this for 30 seconds straight. I can't really even explain why.

I don't get the "I hope Goins gets 500 PA and hits .170 just to prove me right" guys nor the "I hope they lose even more games this year so AA gets fired" guys. I really don't. I've always talked about wanting long tern success. I honestly in my heart believe that we can't have that with AA and Beeston in the fold. How is that any different than someone wanting a better 2B or a better pitcher for their team. In my opinion the GM is the most important person to a baseball teams success...so I want a better GM in place. A one year fluke playoff run makes that an impossibility. It's odd cause I'm a very loyal guy, just not with my sports teams.

Great poster, but you're on a horse even higher up than I. Question: The Jays are in a one game elimination playoff. They win, they're in. They lose and AA gets fired. What do you hope happens?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 This isn't a yes or no question! lol Out of the entire post, that's what you pick out lol.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Question: The Jays are in a one game elimination playoff. They win, they're in. They lose and AA gets fired. What do you hope happens? Oh, s*** that's good

It's odd cause I'm a very loyal guy, just not with my sports teams. It's understandable. You should be working in baseball..... I think you may have some AA hate blinders on. People can gain experience, learn and grow from that. It wouldn't surprise me at all if AA has learned from the mistakes you mention and becomes a better GM.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Oh, s*** that's good I don't want to start fights with anyone. BTS is good people and I'm probably going to be getting trashed with a lot of other people in this thread during the upcoming Yankees series so I'd like to keep things cheerful (hate drinking when I'm angry). But that's a question that needs to be answered!
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Ha, I hate it when people do that too but I thought it was pretty funny. Yes. lol f*** off
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Texas starting catcher is JPA Jorge Alfaro is a thing
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Maybe, but not in this thread. As for your question, you know that feeling when you watch sports and your gut wants one team to win more than the other? It's impossible to say what team I'd be "rooting" for in a hypothetical situation. That's weak bro. Really, really soft.
Caper Verified Member Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 Question: The Jays are in a one game elimination playoff. They win, they're in. They lose and AA gets fired. What do you hope happens? Honestly. I'd give up one of my testicles for Ryan Goins to drive in a winning run in a one game playoff..... which of course stands after Sierra guns down a Ray the plate. But of course I wouldn't come on here at gloat.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Choose option "They lose and AA gets fired." Because the future of the team is a lot more important than a few playoff games. Why would the future be stunted if they made the playoffs? If that was the case... it would mean that A LOT of AA's decisions (miraculously) turned out to be right.
