Someone put Happ out his misery.. this is getting ridiculous. DL him, DFA him, try to send him to Buffalo, release him, do something!

Why? Wilner says that Spring Training doesnt mean anything!

McGowan in 4th: double, K, F9, 4-3. Done after 62 pitches, 41strikes. 3H, 0R, 0BB, 4K. Sat 92-96 throughout.

Dustin hits 62 pitches. How will the arm feel tomorrow?

McGowan's results never really matched his upside, but he's still a better option if healthy than the others. Plus he is just a way more fun option.

In McGowan's first full season as a starter he pitched 169.2 innings posting a 4.08 ERA. In 2007 the American league averaged 794 runs with the Yankees scoring 968 runs and the Red Sox scored 867 runs. Last year the AL averaged 702 runs. The ERA he posted in 2007 would equate to a 3.6 ERA in last year's environment which had way less offense...perhaps even lower when you adjust for the fact that McGowan pitched in the AL east.

He followed that up with a 4.37 ERA pitching 111 innings where he most likely pitched some innings hurt. McGowan has just over a full season as a starter. He never had the time to develop his command, his mental toughness, his understanding of how to set up hitters and his results were still very good given how strong the yanks and sox were at that time.

I think we should be very excited at he prospect of having McGowan pitching instead of Redmond, happ or Rogers.

I've never gotten on a coach or manager that much before, but #fireWalker

Ya because you give a pitching coach a rotation of glass pitchers and AAAA fodder he should be able to turn in to gold. Your cute.

Well, it looks like McGowan's going to get the chance, after Rogers and Happ have basically booked tickets to the waiver wire/DFA limbo, although Rogers could still end up in the bullpen, depending if Jeffress makes the team or not.

It would be pretty dreamy if McGowan makes the team as a starter and comes out to pitch his first game rocking the mutton chops again.

Trust me, I'm excited. McGowan was one of my favourite Jays and I'd love to see him make the starting rotation. Just telling you what I've heard people saying in the past.

If McGowan starts his first game is against Tanaka. The entire baseball community will be watching because of Tanaka. Most non Jays fans won't even know who McGowan is as he hasn't had a meaningful start since 2008. It would be lots of fun to see him battle Tanaka in front of a sold out Rogers Centre.

Maybe we can bring Marcum back too. M&M reunited!

I would love to see McGowan make the rotation though. He'll probably only be able to give us half a season or so, but the innings he does give us are probably better than anything anyone else can produce.

If he gets to a point where Stroman is ready to come up then he did his job. Just let him loose. There was no point signing him if they weren't even going to give him a chance in a situation like this.

I missed the start of the game, was busy with work. I just saw Wilner's tweet though. Did Happ really give up a home run to a pitcher?

Yes he did

To the former Astros pitcher we actually wanted

The ultimate shame

McGowan? If that's who you are referring to I agree

20.57 ERA for Happ. If he isn't DFAd by the end of today, something is wrong in the Jays org.

Coincidentally, that was his ERA coming into this game.

So, he's consistent.

The ultimate shame was John Farrell leaving, we get a ton of good players to win the WS, The Red Sox under Farrell win the WS, and we suck.

The Wandy thing was AAA shaming.

I'm with you. 50/50 chance it blows up, but the reward would be sooo cool. I saw him pitch in Seattle just weeks before he started getting hurt. He and Marcum seemed so good. It'd be nice to see him do this thing. Today helped. If Happ starts in the rotation it won't make any sense.

My rotation

Dickey

Hutch

Buerhle

McGowan

Morrow

Rogers or Redmond in BP as swingman

How do I eliminate Happ and keep both Rogers and Redmond? No idea. And f*** you AA for letting this roster mess accumulate.

Yep, I honestly love that rotation.

I think the Jays may try to place Happ on the injured list. It's the only way.

Stilson in

Wish I could see him pitch

Stilson has been amazing this spring. he's going to be a great setup guy or closer in the near future.
