John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 The Dickey effect might be lessened if the entire rotation is full of knuckleballers.... Maybe AA thinks standing pat and not improving your team while signing minor league knuckleballers is the new market inefficiency?
CHRIS Verified Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Maybe AA thinks standing pat and not improving your team while signing minor league knuckleballers is the new market inefficiency? The only way this could be better if we were cornering the market on knuckleball relievers.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 We actually had a Frank Viola pitch for the us before. Would it be this guys father?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 We actually had a Frank Viola pitch for the us before. Would it be this guys father? Yeah I would think so, he was Frank Viola Jr. so it stands to reason the next in line would be Frank Viola III
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Frank Viola III BR Page. He seems like a winner to me. I think I found my next pick in the DDL waiver draft. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=viola-002fra
CHRIS Verified Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I'm surprised they're not trying to sign Frank Jr. It's not everyday that you can just add 176 career wins to the rotation.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 So is this the 30-year old Frank Viola who's pro experience consists of 14 R-ball innings with the White Sox in 2007? And 37 Indy-ball innings, can't forget those.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 The only way this could be better if we were cornering the market on knuckleball relievers. I don't understand why I laughed so hard at this, but I did Edit: Yes I do. AA collects both knuckelballers and relievers.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Having a knuckleball swingman wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. He'd be capable of pitching more innings and more often than your typical guy. Didn't the Red Sox do that with Wakefield a few years ago?

May have done some of this too. Can't remember.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Now we just need Wakefield to be the minor league roving pitching instructor and we'll know for sure AA is trolling the s*** out of us.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Hahahahahahahahahahahaha this team...
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Imagine if Steve Sparks or Tim Wakefield were still around. I'm sure AA would have traded Aaron Sanchez for Tim Wakefield lol.
flafson Verified Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 That's not a bad thing, the team invested in R.A and they now trying to get any edge they can on the other teams. Maybe if given enough time by the time R.A retires we have someone else instead of him that other teams do not.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I love the thinking behind this and Ohka. Keep signing these guys AA.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I love the thinking behind this and Ohka. Keep signing these guys AA. Yup. No risk, but lots of potential reward.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 All we need to do is remove all these guy's UCLs and then we'll be golden.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 (edited) Knuckeballer market nobody can tough us. Atleast we have that. 98 MPH fastballs with sink are overrated. At least all of our catchers can probably catch it now. No more JPA lols trying to catch Dickey. Edited March 4, 2014 by G-Snarls
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I, too, am conflicted regarding Moogy. I'm afraid I have no such conflict. His posts are pointless, pedantic, intentionally contrary and full of his own inflated sense of self worth. It's like having another version of grant.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 He's like the best of High, Greenwood, and Grant. Love it.
