GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Is this what life is like? Bitterness and regretting what could have been? /spirit shatters into 7 equal parts/ /becomes Voldemort/
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 You could say the same as a Raptors fans. I honestly have no other option at this point. I can only be hopefully optimistic on the off chance that this team might be good. We really have nothing else going for us. But if we score a s*** load of runs and Morrow stays healthy. Dickey and MB do what they do. With one of our young starters having a breakout season. Things can change but a lot will have to go right. Things need to go right eventually. At least the Raps will help March move along quickly. Imagine sitting down and watching a 3 hour Blue Jays SPRING TRAINING game at this point. Yeah, I'm gonna pass on that one.
Sparda Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 In case you weren't pissed off enough, here's some arbitrary endpoint theater from some dickhead: @MLBastian: UJ had 5.03 ERA/1.46 WHIP in 502.1 IP/86 starts between June 2010-April 2013. Other 267 IP of '10/'13: 2.06/1.19. Risky deal. He was really good, except when he wasn't. #Analysis

FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I really cannot invest another entire summer with a team like this. I'll still watch the games but holy f*** can I ever feel the apathy settling in. I agree. At least when the Expos sucked, it was still fun, and sometimes they'd surprise us, like in '03. But the Jays? Not only do they suck, but they're just so oppressively boring and mired in such a backwards organizational structure that it's not really worth my time or energy.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 12M bucks over 4 years is like nothing in baseball. Even if he has a mediocre year or two, he's still extremely tradeable with 2/24 left on his deal (we'd probably even eat something to dump him as well). This is absolutely retarded.

Their offence should be fun to watch, I might find myself changing the channel when their pitchers come out though.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Too many years, and incredibly risky. I'd be worried about his declining GB% rate, his walk issues and HR rate. Also, he doesn't have Mickey Callaway to help.
theblujay Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I want to really care about the Jays so badly, but sometimes it's so hard.

Also, he doesn't have Mickey Callaway to help. One thing to also consider is that he faced a lot of weak-hitting teams during the 2nd half, such as Chicago, KC, Houston, and a sub-par Texas team lacking a big bat outside of Beltre. The Yankees and Red Sox have dominant records against Jimenez as well.

Ehjays Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 What got me was Rosenthall saying he would be shocked if the Jays didn't get one of the two. AA.....THE CLOWN" can't actually be going after Santana

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Click on the fangraphs link and his method for "almost as bad" was ERA lol Is Brendan Kennedy our friend raysjays? That tweet fits him to a tee. "Remember," comma use, using Fangraphs for the wrong reasons...

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Actually, it is when the Yanks and Red Sox dominate Jimenez. Even the Blue Jays have put up decent numbers against him, outside of last season. And he's going to be playing in parks which have high rates of HRs.. his declining GB% is going to get exposed in the AL East.

jerb Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN O's went to 4th year in their talks w/Jimenez out of concern BOS and/or TOR would go for three-year deal. But TOR/BOS didn't make offers.

Those are very small samples, and every AL East pitcher is subject to the AL East parks.

This team will be the "best last place team in baseball" and their 80-82 finish in a tough division will allow AA and Beeston to keep their jobs.

Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Santana or bust now.... No thank you. That would be the worst thing they could do at this point IMO. Our direction is set, that guy alone doesn't change it.

Smokey Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Nice, so instead of making offers Alex has been playing pocket pool this whole time.
