Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 That's a lie they got drunk and said why the f*** not.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 how the hell did they pay this guy 2 million? i lost a lot of respect for Daniels.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I bet JP is going to mash in Texas. He'll still have a bad slash line. But he's gonna rack up the HRs. He has hit his 2nd most HR in Texas ballpark, with Rogers Centre being #1.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 He'll see a 2% reduction in HR. I don't think so #Napolitwopointzero
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 He'll see a 2% reduction in HR. Disagree. JPA goes oppo quite a bit. His HR park factor wouldn't be the same as the typical RHB HR park factor that you see on Fangraphs Guts page. (You filthy saber dogmatist.)

He has hit his 2nd most HR in Texas ballpark, with Rogers Centre being #1. I`m pretty sure pitchers figured out after the first month that JPA will swing at anything. He basically saw less balls in the strike zone than any player in baseball. He`s not going to rack up more home runs until he learns a bit of plate discipline. Hopefully he continues to improve...he does have good power.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 JFaS is hardcore. I bet that changes over time. He's a saber dogmatist to the core, but at least he plays it fast and loose with his numbers. There's nothing worse than a creepy crawly saber buddy who's always unsure of himself, qualifying every statement with a "possibly", "probably", "maybe", etc. (see: Dave Cameron, Me).

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Texas tried so hard for him that they got him for free. Daniels is a genius.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 . I'm already booking 2 homerun game against us. Oh that's a given... Also Rajai Davis will rob a game from us with a defensive gem. Book that as well.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Let's just hope JPA learns some plate discipline in Texas, along with defense. Otherwise it won't matter what he does against us. Remember, this is a guy who set MLB records for worst OPS (.592), and dragged down our team with his ineptness behind the plate.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 Texas tried so hard for him that they got him for free. Daniels is a genius. LOL,yup They wanted him soooo bad that they wouldn't trade ANYONE to AA to get him. And then they signed him for less than his expected arbitration award on a 1 year deal. Yep, they were HARD after you JP.
JugglingPitches Verified Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I see JPA's ego made the trip to Texas, as well. Yes, they went after him "hard" and got him cheap because absolutely nobody else wanted him. Way to be humbled, JP. This is exactly why he'll be in AAA for the rest of his career (save for an injury call up from time to time) by the end of the season and why I was so happy he was forced out of Toronto.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 How many game winning RBI's do you have? I will set the o/u at 2. For Rajai or JP? Eh, no matter. I'll take the under for both. I don't think either gets more than 250 PA.
The Nemesis Verified Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Without looking at his career numbers and yes ofcourse small sample size. I remember JPA having some big game in Texas. He has a horrible baseball swing but in that ballpark and that heat. 30 homeruns would be quite easy for him. I think the plan is for him to be the back up catcher. But he can do some damage in that park. I'm already booking 2 homerun game against us. Not gonna happen. This is a guy that fell like 4 PAs short of posting one of the worst OBPs in the history. There's no way a team that wants to contend like Texas will let him get enough plate appearances to get to 30 HRs. Especially when he also... uhhh, "struggles" with all that behind the plate stuff that he doesn't seem to think is important to being a catcher. Honestly I'd be shocked if he topped 20-22.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 For Rajai or JP? Eh, no matter. I'll take the under for both. I don't think either gets more than 250 PA. I could see Rajai getting more than that. The Tigers gave Andy Dirks almost 500 PA last year and Davis can use his wheels once he gets on base.

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 If Soto gets hurt that team is screwed, not just with the hitting but working with there staff.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Definitely, as Texas's options are very limited at C if Soto/Arencibia get injured, with Robinson Chirinos (who may not even be a catcher anymore), and low-level prospects Jose Felix and Tomas Telis, but I expect the Rangers to add some depth before Spring Training games start.
