Jays have tried to get Ian Kinsler and Brett Anderson this off season

Texas saves almost $40 mil in guaranteed money and get a good bullpen piece back (who they could keep longer if desired) and deal from a position of surplus. Depending on how they would have spent that money it could have worked well for them, probably on a 1B/DH.

Anything that gets rid of Ricky and frees up 7.5M a year for 2 years is a steal

 

Kinsler wouldnt free up any payroll. Obviously I'd do that deal though.

Well yeah. Getting rid of Ricky makes taking on Kinsler's overly-generous contract palatable. And getting Kinsler definitely makes the team better.
