Torts Verified Member Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Hey Guys, New to forum and I hope I enjoy it! Just wanted to start a thread for us to all post off-season possibilities in what little time is left before spring training starts. Whether they be realistic or over optimism post and lets see what happens once the dust settles. In my opinion I believe a realistic move would be trading for Vance Worley. The Twins rotation is getting pretty busy and crowded and Worley may be an odd man out. Still relatively young and could come cheap due to last season's struggles. Whether or not he returns to his 2011, 11-3 form is another thing but I think he his better than some other options right now. Another potential move I'm thinking AA should pull the trigger on is signing Nelson Cruz. I'm not sure if he still needs to serve any games of his suspension but his bat could be useful and add more power to the line-up, especially if Bautista is dealt. Any input is appreciated!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Welcome. This probably could have gone in the offseason roster thread. I think we have a lot of options equal to or better than Worley, so I don't think that would be a move that would make sense for us. We are lacking top of the rotation guys. We have TONS of bottom of the rotation options this year. As for Nelson Cruz, I'm not really sure it would help us a whole lot. The upgrade he'd provide over Lind or (a healthy) Melky is probably minimal at best, if at all. Our best bang for the buck would be trading for a 2nd baseman and/or signing or trading for a legit higher end starter.
Torts Verified Member Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 My mistake, never saw the roster thread. AA spoke on Prime Time sports today and stated the asking price is too high right now. Heres hoping that price comes down or depending on the deal AA makes the move as spring training approaches.
