That's not the point. They are the best at it. Have been for years.

any proof of this? it's a common narrative but everybody in soccer dives a lot.

No I don't have proof. It certainly seems that way when I watch them. Is your experience different?

Just wondering, he played well.

27 aces I read. Encouraging start. He's gotta go to at least the quarters or it will be a disappointment.

Yup. They were saying the Spaniard he was playing, had the game of his life and he lost in straight sets.

Bwahahaha... England lost to Iceland? Wow!!

Yeah pretty historic win though it should be noted this England side was shite and Iceland was good enough to bump the Netherlands right out of the tournament. This was an upset in terms of the history and size of the two countries but the better team won.

England hasn't fielded a good team in close to two decades. This isn't that great of an upset as people are making it out to be especially if you followed Iceland in the qualifying rounds.

England always gets WAY more attention than their squad actually merits. The announcing in today's game was just ridiculous. You would have thought Iceland had defeated defending world champions Germany instead of a mediocre transitional England squad.

Don't get me wrong though. This was a super exciting moment for Iceland. A quarter-final birth in a first ever major tournament is an awesome, historic feat enhanced rather than diminished by the fact that it's not a fluke.

1 win at home...outside of that it has been 1 semi-final appearance (a 4th in 1990) in 20 world cups. Two semi final appearances in the Euro as well (well one 3rd place finish was when it was just 4 teams in the tournament). They sit perfectly with Portugal as the most overrated outside of the top 10 in the world team

Usually the games are on TSN, Sportsnet or NBC. Probably will have to wait until gw3 for the Olympics to end though.

Thanks. So for example, most of Chelsea's games are aired on TSN or Sportsnet? So I wouldn't have to add the Sportsnet World package for $24.99 per month?

There are occasional games which are only on Sportsnet World but it probably isn't worth it to subscribe to that station imo. I don't know how all the Friday games this year will affect things.

It's transfer deadline day today, English teams have spent over £1billion (1.7billion Canadian) this window. Teams are spending £20-30m on players who won't even start for them.

How the f*** do you mess up the distance of the lines in a game this late in the season?

I know this isn't a huge MLS crowd here but I'm pretty pumped for this game. Might come partially from working in a soccer facility over the past couple months.

I don't follow the MLS, though gotta hand it to the TFC for battling back with 2 goals. All they need to do is win 1-0 or 2-1 at home next game and they could make it through.

lol is defense always this bad in the mls?

Not always but there is a movement to get the scoring up in the MLS. So far this year the Premiership is averaging 2.75 goals per match and MLS was 2.81. There is a reason they aren't spending bigger money on defensive imports though...they want scoring up.
