ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 So getting Escobar doesn't count? It must've been all luck, like all of AA's good moves. I think some posters are going overboard, but I understand them, they must feel like their wife cheated on them given how many of us felt before AA's last few trades.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 As bad as that turned out... I don't see how EE would have gotten as much rope as he did with Napoli around. I think EE would have been thrown to the curb. He WAS thrown to the curb! You do raise a legitimate question though. However, one counter-argument would be that Napoli was at least good enough to have been kept and traded for something better than what he was traded for. My guess is that the same people that advised AA on JPA, advised him on Napoli's ability to catch.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 he isn't that bad. the real problem is above him.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 It's pretty easy to say that now. I remember when the trade was made.... I'm sure someone can dig up the old thread... there was not this chorus of bluejay fans outraged over flipping Napoli... though I'm sure everyone now will say they new it then. I know I sure was, and if I was then that must have meant I was tagging along with my idols BTS, Nox, Dinger and herps.

BTS was probably the most excited out of the above. I remember him fully realizing that this was a giant loss in surplus value but he was excited to have a potential contender for the first time in years.

I just quickly skimmed through that trade thread, and it has caused me to remember Akman. I hate that guy for making me dislike Daffy Duck.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Dinger was a lot more excited than me about the Marlins trade. Nox was unflinching in his disapproval. We're talking about the Napoli trade though. Oh, oops. That was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before my time. I thought it was a weird trade and hated Francisco irrationally until August of that year when he started performing and eventually he turned into Matt Smoral. At the time of the Wells deal, my main concern was if Arencibia would get PT. I was the single biggest Arencibia fanboy alive minus that Expos guy on the old board that comped him to Gary Carter lol.

Guys like that are much more entertaining then dogg. Dogg just comes off as pathetic and shameless. Akman was character
