Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Kershaw Greinke Ryu McCarthy Anderson has to be the best rotation in baseball. McCarthy and Anderson will combine to throw 150 innings; Dodgers should sign Morrow to complete the 200 innings.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Two years ago. Billy Beane turned down Wil Myers for Brett Anderson straight-up, per this @JeffPassan
Westfan Verified Member Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Wow, never thought Anderson would get that much. Rumor is the Indians offered 3 mil and thought that was in the ball park Is the 10 mil all incentive based ?
Westfan Verified Member Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 $10M guaranteed + $4M extra in incentives. Gulp!

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Anderson is way better than Morrow though. If he's healthy, it's huge. That's a pretty big IF and a pretty bit of an unknown if he's the same pitcher given all his injuries...I'm going to go out on a limb and say he wouldn't offer the same terms if he was still with the rays.

Obviously. lol.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 gmdm Way too much money for an OF with declining skills. What the heck is Dayton Moore thinking?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Way too much money for an OF with declining skills. What the heck is Dayton Moore thinking? After the Morales acquisition, this signing is not out of the question for Moore.
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Really annoying how Heyman doesn't even capitalize names. And yet he caps the "M" for millions

BTS Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 I thought GMDM loved OF defense?

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Way too much money for an OF with declining skills. What the heck is Dayton Moore thinking? Rios was worth 3.1 WAR in 2013 and 4.2 WAR in 2012. I don't think he's as bad as his 2014 season again - I'd rather take a chance on Rios with a one year deal vs. Melky on that 3 year deal he signed with the White Sox.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Looking back at Rios' stats, he was a lot better in 2009 when the Jays gave him away to Chicago then I remember. Posted a 92 wRC+ (1 WAR) in that 479 PA sample that seems to just be bad BABIP luck -- and this was coming off back-to-back five win seasons! Only 12 hitters were worth 10.4 WAR in 2013-14, which is what Rios was worth in 2007-08. I think that if Paul Goldschmidt or Buster Posey were worth one win in the first two-thirds of 2015 teams would be lining up down the block to buy low on them. Did the lack of sabermetrics in 2009 contribute to people being so down on Rios? That and the guy was the ultimate dbag.
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 That and the guy was the ultimate dbag. Yeah he probably is, but people are naive to judge someone based off one bad incident...
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 I guess KC is hoping he rebounds into his 2010 or 2012 form.. what is it with him? Where did his power go? I mean, he played in hitters parks.. He'll replace Aoki in RF.. whether it's an upgrade or not is a question mark. They still need a starter to replace Shields, and Morales is looking like a waste of money.

Agreed.. but not at $11M/year, especially when his power has disappeared and his OF defense will likely stink at Kaufman stadium, and will likely require frequent defensive replacements with Cain/Dyson late in games in 2015.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 His advise is correct, capital 'i' or not. Total non sequitur. Boxcar was totally correct in calling him out.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Anderson is way better than Morrow though. If he's healthy, it's huge. When you factor in risk they aren't that different.... There hasn't been any recent history to suggest he can even throw 100 innings as hes thrown just 160 in the last 4 seasons. Morrow has been around 380 in that time period.
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Total non sequitur. Boxcar was totally correct in calling him out. No he wasn't, he is being another douchebag on the internet... absolutely no need for it.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Yeah he probably is, but people are naive to judge someone based off one bad incident... Especially since the guy he was yelling at is reputed to be a huge dbag himself.
