jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Phil Hughes: Cool f***ing guy. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/11589004/phil-hughes-minnesota-twins-turns-chance-500000-bonus He's going to earn close to $40 million to date once he becomes a FA in 2017. 500K for him and other MLB players isn't much.
shortstop Verified Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 good on Hughes & the Twins
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Wow as much as I never liked Jeter that was a hell of a moment to go out.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 How can you not be romantic about baseball?
EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Is it weird the first thing I thought of after that was "at least it wasnt against us".
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Royals are 3 outs away from guaranteeing a tie-breaker vs. Seattle at worst and keeping their division hopes alive. And Seattle and Cleveland are still alive, as Beltre just walked off the A's with a HR. Still think Seattle has a chance, as the Angels will likely shut down starters as they will clinch the best record if the Jays beat the O's tomorrow. FYI, the pitching matchups for that Angels/M's series: Weaver vs. Iwakuma Johnny Everystaff(and Cory Rasmus) vs. Paxton CJ Wilson vs. King Felix If the A's struggle, it wouldn't surprise me if we see a tie-breaker on Monday between the A's and Mariners. Luckily, the M's will be back at Safeco where they pitch well.

Does 500 K grow on trees for you ??? Bipolar much??? Classy move, apparently contractually they can't just give him the money. Twins should just take the 500K and donate it to whatever charity the guy favors 16Wins and 16BB in a season is pretty remarkable.

comeon sense Verified Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Yan Gomes still hurts Thanks for reminding me. LOL oh well.at least navvy had best numbers for one of our catchers in a while.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 The Royals now only need a OAK loss tomorrow vs. the Rangers or a win vs. the White Sox.. and they will clinch a postseason berth for the first time since 1985.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Thanks for reminding me. LOL oh well.at least navvy had best numbers for one of our catchers in a while. Neither us or Cleveland is going to the postseason regardless.
comeon sense Verified Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Neither us or Cleveland is going to the postseason regardless. If Cleveland doesnt lose Swisher...hmm... who knows. I,m over Gomes. Its too bad we had to let him go.Dont even know why that was. I would love it if Seattle finishes tied with Oak,And KC.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 What is wrong with you posting that disgusting crap. Not even joking

That's 1000 ivory backscratchers... Also, I feel that I missed something well worth seeing with the deleted posts in here... *sigh*
Arkadium Verified Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Reported. I love how you say that as if you think I care...
Arkadium Verified Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 It was a picture of fresh, wet poop. Just completely out of the blue (or brown, as it were), with no context as to why you would post that picture. If you feel it's worth seeing, just take a glance into the bowl after you drop the kids off at the pool. Sometimes things happen for no reason whatsoever, it's one of the oddities and wonders of life. And for that reason you should feel special that you were lucky enough to partake in such an event.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Pretty bleak outlook for the Rays.. just build a new stadium already or move the team to Montreal! http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2014/09/25/rays-fighting-uphill-battle-to-keep-franchise-relevant/16216031/ That stadium that was planned should have been built.. and it's no surprise they're slashing payroll.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Who's going to watch Corey Kluber win the Cy Young today? Your mom? You should prob watch Weaver instead. MOAR WINS and Angels going to post-season. *Waits for JFaS to go completely APESHIT over my comment*

GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Does that include catcher data?

GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 You can get who is catching with the player table and action table that can be scraped. I have the MySQL code to do so. Could be done with Excel I guess but you'll need a shitload of RAM if you want to do it that way. Would you be able to pull that for me and email it to me? I could give it a shot but I know jack s*** about R. My knowledge base extends to JavaScript, Java, and a little bit of MySQL but not enough to be useful.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I recommend doing it yourself just for the learning experience. The extent of using R is laughable in this case. Really simple. Do you have SequelPro? I recommend using SQL over Excel for something this large. I haven't finished scraping and such yet, but I can send when all done if you want. I don't have SequelPro. Or R. I don't have a ton of RAM so my Excel expertise won't help here. If you sent me instructions I could probably figure it out but I doubt I could do it by myself lol.
