Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 DBacks acquire RHP Addison Reed from #WhiteSox for IF Matt Davidson. Expand
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Reed for Matt Davidson, no Santos
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Is davidson any good? I like how Kenny williams and rick hahn don't overvalue their relievers unlike a certain GM
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Towers "I want SAVEZZZ.........Trade that semi-stud 3B for Reed"
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 C-Phegley 1B-Abreu 2B-Semien (Beckham trade) 3B-Davidson SS-Ramirez LF-Viciedo CF-Eaton (De Aza trade) RF-Garcia DH-Konerko (Dunn trade?)
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Yes, great move for White Sox. He's one of there top prospects. Looks like Rick Hahn is starting to shape the roster into what he wants. Dunn is a goner if he can find a trade partner.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Reed for Matt Davidson, no Santos Reed isn't even arb eligible until 2015, he's a superior asset to Santos.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Baseball management 101:Never, never trade a position player for a reliever.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Reed isn't even arb eligible until 2015, he's a superior asset to Santos. I know. Santos+ for Davidson.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Ehh Davidson is a very fringe guy at 3B.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Reed isn't even arb eligible until 2015, he's a superior asset to Santos. Remember when santos came to the jays, the praise, the love and the admiration. I wouldn't be surprised if Reed has a down year
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Not even Goins hell yeah you take that trade in a heartbeat. Goins is jpish type of hitter. This isn't the 1950's. Terrible hitting fielders are a dime a dozen
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Not even Goins Put it in the context of talent. Stud - stud Good - good Mediocre - mediocre Goins doesn't have match.......maybe Jo Jo Reyes?
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Santos still has nasty stuff, I just have zero faith in his ability to stay healthy.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Put it in the context of talent. Stud - stud Good - good Mediocre - mediocre Goins doesn't have match.......maybe Jo Jo Reyes? lol JoJo is a good one. Remember when AA thought he was full of potential lmao. Wilner also is a giant douche
LunchBox Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Having Trumbo and Davidson in the same lineup would certainly be hard to watch lol. That being said, Skaggs, Davidson, Eaton > Trumbo, Reed IMO, poor asset management.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Davidson was one of the D-Backs top prospects. Not sure what's so good about him though. Does seem to have some power, but will never have a high average, also strikes out a lot. I had him in the DDL at the beginning of the offseason but traded him straight up for Aaron Sanchez.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Looks like a lopsided fantasy trade. Boxy and TheHurl trade
LunchBox Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Cecil for Owings straight up would be an excellent Christmas gift...
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Cecil for Owings straight up would be an excellent Christmas gift... Agree but........................Cecil is a "ace reliever". Jays could get a best pay for him (Towers being Towers)
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 The Cell was the #1 park last year for right-handed home runs, so this is good from a Davidson fantasy angle. Prety fair trade overall. Reed has mediocre results in the Majors so far, but the peripherals are great and he's very cheap/controllable.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Fantastic deal for the White Sox. They get a solid middle of the order bat at the hot corner, and who's also a solid defender as well. Kevin Towers has made stupid deals these past couple of years. I actually like what the White Sox have been doing this offseason. Signing Abreu, trading for Eaton, and now acquiring Matty Davidson.

Wouldn't really consider that middle of the order.

LunchBox Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Davidson offensively is probably Trumbo with less power. Wouldn't really consider that middle of the order. I'm not sold on Davidson's bat either, but I don't entirely agree with this. Consider their minor league numbers, keeping in mind that Davidson was younger at each respective level: -Davidson both walked and struck out more than Trumbo. -Trumbo posted a higher slugging percentage. -They posted comparable wOBA. Davidson could potentially be a middle of the order hitter. He's also a much better defender, at a more valuable position so he could certainly end up a more valuable player than Trumbo.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Davidson = Brett Wallace. Great swing, makes line drive contact and has doubles power but strikes out way too much. Some reason these guys don't work out in the bigs. I wish I understood it cause I love high LD rates. The guy will probably be a butcher at 3B and can't run. Figuring out if a reliever will repeat a season is never easy but honestly I'll say that Addy averages about 1 WAR over the next 4. Davidson will have to BABIP his way to that.
