Exactly how you described it; heard it from so many different people, never heard anything to the contrary. Never bothered to dig any deeper because I didn't even step foot in a gym until I was like 25.

Weight lifting doesn't stunt growth. That's a myth spewed by uninformed individuals. Although at a young age, kids should focus on resistance training and less on trying to become "big". Technique first, and then weight. Slow and steady wins the race.

On a serious note, DO NOT start lifting weights until you're 18 or 19, it'll stunt your growth at your age. No lie.
