eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 What does this say about the team? Alex is selling high on a reliever or payroll is tight and he's trying to avoid Santos' jump in salary next year?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Is it really selling high? Santos did come back with impressive numbers but he still had a shortened season. But of course that's assuming you don't feel he can handle the rigors of a full, +60 IP season. If he gave away Jannsen I think that would be selling high.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Fatcow, the starter for reliever deal is only good if the starter can actually throw more innings than the reliever. lol
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Anytime you can get an SP for a reliever you do it, you know this? There's nothing to look into we're stacked with BP arms, this bodes well on what AA is trying to do. Especially when the reliever in question offsets a good chunk of the salary. That being said if the physical says he's not even going to start the season healthy much less finish it, it's a pass.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Nick Cafardo ""Anthopoulos has tried to make things happen with trade proposals, including a recent Sergio Santos/Brett Anderson swap with the Oakland A’s, but it never materialized. Teams inquired about Bautista and Encarnacion earlier this winter, but the feeling is the Blue Jays would rather build around the power bats. Yet dealing one of them would bring a good haul to fill other needs"" http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2014/01/05/toronto-blue-jays-have-been-quiet-offseason-despite-need-for-reinforcements/98HLraXbL7FR7d8yyMD7AP/story.html
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Good effort by AA, that would have been a very nice deal. Shame it didn't work out.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Good effort by AA, that would have been a very nice deal. Shame it didn't work out. Jays - Anderson A's - Gentry Rangers - Santos I would have preferred to Gentry instead of Anderson.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Worst thread title of the year goes to.. Worst thread title of the year goes to.. Worst double post of the year goes to...
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I only posted once , I deleted the first one after Ang posted so that his post would get moved to the bottom of page 6 and mine would be to the top of page 7 I saw them both existing at once, lol. It amazes me that you think about these things. Idk if I would've rathered Gentry. Anderson projects for like 2 wins in 96 innings, if we lucky out and get more than that from him he'd be way better than Gentry.

I project Anderson to throw just 50 innings.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I project Anderson to throw just 50 innings. Angrioter projections, 99.9% accuracy
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 It's seems hard to believe Anderson is only 25.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I project Anderson to throw just 50 innings. McGowan is a better SP option than Anderson
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 McGowan is a better SP option than Anderson I'd say they're both about equal, with a nod to McGowan on stuff and Anderson on feel.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Angrioter projections, 99.9% accuracy "Anderson 50 IP" and "Morrow 15-20 GS" is easy to predict.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 You're a good writer but.................suck as a speculator. I liked your Cahill idea Ang. I'm surprised more people didn't get on board with that one.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 McGowan is a better SP option than Anderson Thinking that's poll worthy. I'd take Anderson but, IMO it'd be close.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 I bet the starter was from the third team. Maybe the D'Backs (Cahill?), they seem to get into a lot of three-ways. Rangers - Santos Jays - Cahill Dbacks - ????? ^^^ This ^^^ I liked your Cahill idea Ang. I'm surprised more people didn't get on board with that one.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Anderson by far. Age, skill, everything. Age: Anderson >> McGowan Stuff: McGowan > Anderson Skill: Anderson > McGowan Contract: McGowan >> Anderson Injury risk: McGowan = Anderson (imo)
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Age: Anderson >> McGowan Stuff: McGowan > Anderson Skill: Anderson > McGowan Contract: McGowan >> Anderson Injury risk: McGowan = Anderson (imo) How I feel aswell except I think Anderson is more likely to miss significant time next season.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 ^^^ This ^^^ Ya that one Ang. Cahill is a great fit for the back of the rotation and should come relatively cheap.
Jays Verified Member Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Forever hate this thread Thanks for the bump Spanky Blue Jays send Sergio Santos to Texas but another player failed physical
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Well here's the answer to this puzzle according to Shi Davidi: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/anthopoulos-addresses-deals-that-couldve-been/ Anderson, dealt in December by the Oakland Athletics to Colorado Rockies for pitcher Drew Pomeranz and prospect Chris Jensen, nearly ended up with the Blue Jays in exchange for Sergio Santos. But those talks fell apart due to concern over Anderson’s injury risk.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 This thread gets me every time ugh.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 This thread gets me every time ugh. I changed the thread title Better?
Maine Jays Verified Member Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Because Sergio has been the pillar of health since he came back to us.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
