A funny thing I realized while reading the comments on MLBTR is that Cano apparently asked for 310M and the Yankees have almost spent more than that. With this signing they're at 270M so far this offseason. They still have offers out to Choo, Kuroda and Beltran.

 

Spending 310M on 3 players > spending it on 1 player

You could have gotten Anibal and David Ross last year, along with Choo, Infante and Garza this year, and still probably not pass 310M. And that's dividing it over two off-seasons.
