I think if we're going to shop Bautista, we can find better suitors than the goddamn Phillies. Even Brown + Franco wouldn't be that interesting to me. Bautista's contract makes him an extremely valuable asset.

Former top prospect...AA loves those guys mostly because he's still got 5 year old scouting reports. I think it's somewhat great that the Phils would be doing this move to play Bautista at 3B. Amaro and AA...the great minds of the game.

Bautista is starting the break down. He is awesome but if there is some decent things along with Brown then it could work out. I mean this provided that the money saved is spent on a new player. (i.e: Brown + some good things + money to sign McCann / Ruiz) makes our team better. Other piece obviously needs to be better than Kyle Kendrick though.

Brown fell apart in the 2nd half last year. Basically a 26 year old limited defender who has had one half of a good season in his career.

Brown's pretty good too though. He was a top 20 prospect in baseball for a while and last year he finally looked like he was breaking out hitting .272 with 27 homeruns. AA and JP coveted him since the beginning of time so it makes some sense. If we got Lee and also got Brown a young player to replace Bautista I like it.

AA loves controllable players, it's not that hard to believe. It would save a huge chunk of cash for 2014 and AA likely uses that to fix another hole. Could actually work out quite nicely depending on the other pieces involved. Plus the team gets younger.

Also who cares at this point if the team gets younger? With the way we're headed, I'd gladly take Lee over a 28 year old #3 starter
