Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Nats interviewed DeMarlo Hale for manager Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post reports that the Nationals have interviewed Blue Jays bench coach DeMarlo Hale for their managerial vacancy. The interview took place sometime in the past two weeks. Prior to joining the Blue Jays, Hale was the third base coach with the Orioles in 2012 and served on the major league staff with the Red Sox from 2006-2011. He is the fifth known candidate for the job, joining Nationals third base coach Trent Jewett, bench coach Randy Knorr, Diamondbacks third base coach Matt Williams, and Padres executive Brad Ausmus. eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Hale showed a ton of promise this year with his duties of filling out the lineup card while also ensuring that Gibbons didn't fall asleep after the 6th inning. This would be a serious blow.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Demarlo Hale is well regarded, for those who think a bench coach just fills out a line-up are vastly under estimating there job. Sometimes the bench coaches are like the fat guy of the MoneyBall movie, masterminds with little merit.
