GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I am fully aware that's not all it was about This season's A's are clearly a bunch of cheap undervalued no names who fit the moneyball mold for the most part But they do have too many guys who swing too freely I think I read a nice study that showed higher strikeout rates don't actually correlate with poor performance, or something to that effect.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Brett Anderson In. Blue Jays future top-rotation guy.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Brett Anderson In. Blue Jays future top-rotation guy. He'll fit right in with the other broken down injury prone blue jays.

Strikeouts can certainly be compensated for in other areas such as as getting lots of extra base hits. There's an acceptable trade off at some level.

Yeah there are definitely guys that can succeed even with the K's and even if they fail it's not always because of the K's they just may be bad hitters period.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Pull Benoit This is a terrible effort from him.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Guy is all over the road here. Zero control
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 And Smith swings at ball 3
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 And Smith swings at ball 3 MoneyBall my balls. The A's hitters are very undisciplined
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 9, 2013 Author Posted October 9, 2013 Games like this the Rays probably kinda sorta wish they still had James Shields

Convo Verified Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Great call by Maddon pulling Hellickson, you need to act with urgency in the postseason. Just win the freaking game. That's how the Braves lost. Fredi acted as if in a mid-May weekend series vs. the Marlins. Yup, Maddon is really something special.
Jays Verified Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Good play by Zobrist. He is awesome.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 9, 2013 Author Posted October 9, 2013 These games are so slow. Gotta go to bed. Long day tomorrow.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Peavy 5 scoreless, 56 pitches
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Escobar should write Farrell is gay in his black eye
Convo Verified Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I miss Yunel Yunel has almost as much WAR value as Reyes with two perks - Yunel doesn't get injured like Reyes, and Yunel will cost 1/4 as much.
Convo Verified Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Interesting, I think this is Yunel's first post-season
Convo Verified Member Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Who knew TB crowd knew how to make noise
