flafson Verified Member Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Wait, can we actually do that? I thought the whole idea of the tournament was to get them scholarships in colleges so then they could be drafted later on.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 He's a 20 year old his draft year is gone and he didn't go to college, making him a free agent.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 http://www.canadianbaseballnetwork.com/articles/top-prospects-t12-others/ Not too many people were talking about Andrew Case, the Saint. John N.B. native, before the tournament. The 20-year-old pitcher had to take a back seat behind his Martimes teammate J.P. Stevenson, as well as hurlers Kurtis Horne from Sooke, B.C. and Zach Pop from Ontario Black. This was until he threw his first no-hitter in the semi-finals against Quebec White, striking out 13 batters in the process. Receiving handshakes and congratulations from the likes of Roberto Alomar can’t hurt his stock. “Big atmosphere on a big stage like this, it’s a good feeling to do it here,” said the member of the Prairie Baseball Academy after the game. “Hopefully, it will help a lot to get recognized, hopefully they [scouts] noticed.” Performing well at events like Tournament 12 can only help players who are not on everybody’s radar.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Can hardly find anything on him http://www.pointstreak.com/baseball/player.html?playerid=80170
kgm1 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Can hardly find anything on him http://www.pointstreak.com/baseball/player.html?playerid=80170 Not a big guy , Just wondering what he has for pitches and velocity . Baseball America had articles about it on the 21st,22,and 23rd and nothing after . Never mentioned him
ace3113 Verified Member Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Small snippet about him in Baseball America from Tournament 12: Andrew Case, a righthander for the Maritimes Grey, struck out all six hitters he faced with a fastball up to 92 mph.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 (edited) Is he likely to start in Vancouver next year? Or since he's already 20 would they want to see is he can handle low A Lansing?? Edited September 29, 2013 by G-Snarls
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 he was throwing 90 so he's got velocity...then you figure he didn't get a college offer (that I know of) so he must have developed late. I'm pretty sure he's a org guy that will probably spend like 7 years with Vancouver but still a cool story
KSaw Verified Member Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Guys, he's not that good. 90 and flat on the 4-seamer. Very good curve for amateur baseball. Decent change. Quebec can't hit btw. If you want to see some real talent come out of Canada, North York won the National Bantam title and are rare for Canadian baseball, as they have 6 or 7 legitimate hitting prospects. And I mean quiet and quick bats and nice fluid swings and power from monster 15-year olds that could be mashing kids who are 18.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Guys, he's not that good. No s***, Sherlock.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 They just signed him cause he's Canadian. Nothing special here. Let's hope we tank enough so that we can get that Canadian super prospect Gareth Morgan next year..

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Canadians can't play baseball bro, get out of here and play Hosshkeyy I dare you to tell that to Lawrie ... actually I don't, I want to see him on the field instead of a jail cell for the next 20 to life.

So far Lawrie .269/.328.427 = +6% above Avg He need to grab a Hosssschkey stick.
