Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Quote from AA about the catching position from the Toronto Star. (What about the defense, game calling, pitch framing, and ability to hit and get on base?) The defense is fine. Christ, AA is an idiot.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 I would think that is all part of "production." Isn't it? In JP's mind, production is completely synonymous with RBI's
flafson Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 In JP's mind, production is completely synonymous with RBI's JP has a good number of RBI but if you look at his Batting with RISP, it's worse than horrible.

One of the many reasons it's laughable that he considers himself a "run producer". He essentially only produces runs one game out of every 8 when he hits a home run. He needs to recognize that sac flies, singles the other way with RISP and getting on base can also produce runs.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Thole is equally as terrible as JP. Zero ability at all at the plate. Probably the worst single-season catching tandem in baseball history. It's gotta be close.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 42nd worst in AL history by WAR, out of 1175 team seasons. Huh, it's not even the worst Jays catching season of alltime (Sandy Martinez/Randy Knorr in 1995)

AA should be fired.

JugglingPitches Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 In fairness, if AA came on and was 100% honest about how bad JPA is, what an enormous doucheballoon he is and how good he is at giving head, how is he going to trade him? He has to make it sound like he has at least a hope of going back to AA or AAA where he belongs and pulling his career out of the sewer. That said, he laid it on pretty thick considering JPA is hands down the worst player I have ever watched play the game. Ever. Coupled with a bigger ego than Ricky Henderson and Barry Bonds combined.

He's your least favorite player and he sucks ass but there are a ton of minor leaguers that couldn't hold a candle to him.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Are all of you having fun??? Yes in some ways JPA deserves this and I have been very vocal that the best way to improve our starting rotation is to get a Ruiz behind the plate . But I for one want the guy to go down to AA and get his bat working to try and get some value back . Destroying the guy won't help that . Having JPA in buffalo improving would also keep that ownership and fans happier and we need that franchise . We need an upgrade behind the plate AA recognizes that . What I want him to realize is overpaying for Ruiz might just be the best thing he can do to improve our rotation .

Before we destroy the guy lets us be realistic about bad players. Dunn,s 2011 and even 12/13 years at that money far eclipses JPA at bad 2011 CWS AL MLB 122 415 36 66 115 16 0 11 42 75 0 177 0 1 .159 .292 .277 .569 0.72
