EdelweissBouquet Verified Member Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 (edited) A home run is the ONLY event in baseball that 100% guarantees at least 1 run,(other than a bases loaded walk) and it's the sexiest event in baseball bar none. A 30-40 home run guy, will usually accumulate 150-170 hits...Adam Dunn not withstanding, so it's not as if a HR hitter cannot get on base. So a team needs 5 30-40 HR players, and their run production problems come to an end, netting around 250 HR for the year. Also this will guarantee an explosive attendance increase of moonshot loving fans. Even with what we have now, we're 2nd in HRs so this should get us over the top,and another 2 starters wouldn't hurt. Get er done AA/ Beeston. GO JAYS GO !! Technically a home run is only counted once the batter rounds the bases and steps on home plate (ie, the play is over) which makes any argument like that redundant. It IS however possible for a player to hit a ball fair, on the fly, into the stands and not receive a home run for it (and no it has nothing to do with botched calls or replays). (Sorry, I dislike 100% type statements)

Now, are u saying if a player hits it out and suffers a heart attack rounding the bases, it would not count? Could they bring in a pinch runner, and drag away the corpse? But seriously, if player twists ankle and cannot continue.. how would the scorer rule it?

I'm talking about a player hitting the ball out with a runner on base, then accidentally passing the runner on the base paths (this isn't as impossible as it sounds, especially a high fly that just squeaks over the wall and the runner tagging up).

Of the 9 guys who currently have 30 HR's...3 have 150 hits. So a team needs 5 30-40 HR players, and their run production problems come to an end, netting around 250 HR for the year so we have one...which 4 of the other 8 do you want. Davis, Miggy and Goldschmidt are a good start, maybe we hope Jose and JPA get there next year and leave Davis out of the equation.

Jones, and i'm fairly certain longoria will get 30. I'm not really sold on goldscmidt defensively or that he can be consistent with what he's doing this year offensively, but he sure would be an upgrade at 1st. Something or someone in baltimore turned it around for davis. He should do ok in RC,and his offense will be enough to have us overlook his mediocre defense f he plays a position. Any 5 of the players mentioned would help immensely . It's a good thing that hypothetical scenarios don't cost a red cent. i

It's not 1998 anymore. And Oshawa is where men from Toronto go to score white trash chicks who f*** on sight because they never had a father around to help instill some self-respect in them. =)
