Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Not really important but might be worth discussing on an off day.. TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays are planning to play a pair of spring training games at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium against the New York Mets next spring, with an official announcement expected Tuesday. The contests, to be held right at the end of the pre-season, will bring big-league baseball back to the Big O for the first time since the Expos left for Washington after the 2004 season. Hosting games in Montreal makes sense under the Blue Jays’ strategy of building a country-wide fan-base. The Blue Jays closed out their 2013 spring training with two contests in Philadelphia against the Phillies.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Cool! I'll plan to be there!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Philadelphia made no sense. Don't do that again.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Now if we end up sharing a ST facility with Houston, I could go for a couple games being played in Texas where it's also nice and warm in March.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Will be 2 games vs Mets according to Rogers radio
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Ouch @ seeing D'Arnaud and Syndergaard
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 You know what? Those two names are hard to type on a phone. Glad they're gone. . . Kidding
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Great, I plan on going. Also looking forward to taking my son to his first semi-big league game.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Apparently, Filipe Alou has leaked information that the available 1994 Expos players are going to do some sort of exhibition game that weekend, still in the planning stages.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 No real info yet but confirmation here: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/baseball/montrealers-will-get-to-toast-the-1994-expos-next-march/article14472393/
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Jays move to Montreal + Rays move to Toronto = Everybody wins!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Article suggesting tickets already on sale. Never heard this before??? The tickets have only been on sale for a few days but more than 40,000 total have already been sold for the games.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Yep. I guess they are! http://www.evenko.ca/html/tickets/baseball/index_en.html
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I'm also going to go ahead and presume that JP's absence from the promotional picture confirms that he will be off the roster by march. http://cdn.evenko.ca/_uploads/event/7739/splash.jpg
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 There's not a lot of players with sub .200 BAs on promotional pictures.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 There's not a lot of players with sub .200 BAs on promotional pictures. Hehe Edwin FTW
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Jays move to Montreal + Rays move to Toronto = Everybody wins! Look at that picture. Jays might as well move to Santo Domingo. Less travel time for most of the good players.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Those three guys + Albert Pujols, David Ortiz and Robinson Cano probably = approx 60% of the GDP of the Dominican Republic. So would be good for the economy there too. #KeepThosePesosAtHome

If he's still on the team, I will heckle JPA incessantly.
Jays Verified Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Jays move to Montreal + Rays move to Toronto = Everybody wins! I like this idea. Get a pic of Lee wearing a Toronto Rays jersey.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 From an Alouettes article on Sportenet: Alouettes chief operating officer Mark Weightman said the team opted for its outdoor field because of concerns a snowfall could postpone the match in the Big O. Olympic Stadium cannot be used if it snows due to an unstable roof. Sooo.... What if it snows March 27/28???
