Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Quite an amusing article from Elliott for anyone that didn't see it http://www.torontosun.com/2013/09/05/bob-elliott-flies-high-with-blue-jays-gm-alex-anthopoulos-his-son

TBJ12 Verified Member Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 If he would have paid for the upgrade, that article might have been longer, haha. Me: “Sir, can I upgrade? Or will you let me sit here ... I didn’t know my son was on this flight.” GA: “Sir, you can’t do that at the last minute, I’m sorry. You’ll have to return to your seat.” He tried to upgrade his seat but apparently that's not an option after you've already boarded the plane. Your right though, could have been a much more interesting article if Elliott had actually been permitted to sit with AA.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 The comments about AA now are pretty funny..he did exactly what the majority wanted and just spent like a madman..got big name players..they lost and now he's all of a sudden a disgrace in their eyes. This is why you dont do moves to please the fans..

This is why you dont do moves to please the fans.. I remember several of the posters that moved here from the MLB board being against the trades, especially the Dickey trade, including myself so I doubt it was the majority. Now, I have admitted that even though I didn't like the trades, I picked them to contend for the division, I think I predicted between 86-92 games depending on the mood I was in. There's no doubt that several posters that also picked them to contend this year are acting as if they thought all along that they'd be contending for a top 10 draft pick instead, but that's the way some people are. The issue was that we didn't like the change of direction, instead of continuing to acquire guys like Escobar, Rasmus, Morrow, Lawrie, etc. they went for guys in their 30's and what made it worse was that they emptied a top 5 farm system to do it. I don't think many here would be nearly as upset if they had overspent in free agency or traded for guys in their mid 20's.
