Nox Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Yep. I'm convinced he would have been an easy HOF vote without steroids. I get frustrated when people completely write him off as a hitter because of the roids. Lets say Bonds started juicing in 2000. Even before then he was far and away the best player in the league. I mean, just look at this: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=1999&month=0&season1=1986&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0 At least we'll never have to ask the question: "What would it look like if you took a top 5 player in history and shot him full of roids?". A 220 wRC+ with plus fielding over 4 years is the answer.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Steroids aside, you need amazing talent to do what he did... I was looking at his number the other day and its just insane. a .404 career OBP and +1 career OPS is nuts. .444 career OBP

Imagine having Barry Bonds on your fantasy team in 2001? .328/.515/.833 and 129/73/137/13 Any Bonds owner who didn't make the playoffs that year should have been banned from fantasy baseball forever.

Bonds 2002 .370/.582/.799 = .544 wOBA
Nox Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Bonds 2002 .370/.582/.799 = .544 wOBA Lets also not forget the year he OBP'd over .600.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Lets also not forget the year he OBP'd over .600. 120 IBB cap filler
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Lets also not forget the year he OBP'd over .600. Incredible They always say that in baseball "the pitcher always has the advantage", even good hitters "only get on a third of the time", blah blah blah. Well getting on base over half the timelier the course of multiple seasons is truly amazing when you consider how difficult a game it is.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 120 IBB cap filler Yeah there were games he'd be intentionally walked like every time he came to the plate.
imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 It's pretty f***ing crazy that Mike Trout has actually improved his hitting across the board this year, though (BB%, K%, AVG, ISO, wOBA). 166 wRC+ last year, up to 179 in 2013. That is downright godly. That's f***ing amazing! I wonder how much it will cost the Angels for not giving Trout a 50k-100k increase in salary for this season.

A guy like that won't take a sweetheart deal because a clubs tossed him 'chump change' during this second season.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Yeah there were games he'd be intentionally walked like every time he came to the plate. Even most of the non-IBB were really UIBB (Unintentional intentional BB).
