Seriously? You really think none of those "old time" guys weren't on whatever stimulants they could get their hands on at the time. Nobody gave a rats ass then because the media was nothing but local newspaper men who's living was paid for by the owners, so nobody bit the hand that fed them. Ty Cobb, Harry Hooper, and Joe Jackson took a drug called "nuxated iron" because they thought it increased their stamina during training. Tom House, who played for the Braves in the '70s, claimed he and his teammates in Atlanta took "whatever steroid they could find," and that the same was true for all the other teams.

 

Anyone who still trots out the tired old "sacred records are being cheapened!" argument against steroids is deluding themselves if they think those old records were accumulated without some sort of performance enhancers.
