Nope, I'm right. Josh Johnson is not worth 14 million dollars. This does not require much analysis.

This is the AL EAST. He cannot pitch in the AL EAST. Therefore, not worth 14 million dollars.

Exactly just like John Lackey can't pitch in the AL East and put up a 6.00 ERA. Clay Buchholz and his 4.56 ERA doesn't deserve a penny because he can't pitch in the AL East. Ivan Nova and his 5.00 ERA proved last year that he wasn't AL East worthy. Glad someone gets it.

I bet McCann goes to the Yankees since they need a catcher badly.

Really depends on Cano and ARod. Losing either of those players would drastically increase the chances the Yankees land McCann.

Alright, here's the list of all pitchers that CAN pitch in the AL EAST and would do so for 1 year and $14M:

You clearly cannot comprehend things like sample sizes and stats beyond ERA and wins, nor do you apparently understand the economics of baseball, so perhaps you should read more and open your cockholster less.

People have to stop assuming that AA and the Jays are going to look for value. He's going to look at the overall budget and if JJ fits into it, chances are he makes the QO (and in his mind gets a chance to prove that he was right.

All overpaid.

This isn't New York. This isn't Boston.

This is the Toronto Blue Jays owned by ROGERS.

New York and Boston don't work on a budget.

Our corporate overlord Rogers, does.

clear win for HRT...sorry I'll stop talking baseball now.

The mini-ninjas have gone quiet....

Why give him 14 million when you can sign him for less? I would be down for a one year deal for under 10MM.

Just wondering if all the mini-ninjas in this thread still wanna give Josh Johnson 14 million (lol) dollars?

I still want them to give Johnson 14 Mil.

This is true, because he's not going to refuse the qualifying offer so it doesn't actually make sense to bank on that.

A lot of teams wanted Johnson--not just the Jays. I recall Boston wanting both Reyes and Johnson last offseason as well.

Aren't they glad they didn't make that trade? Had they made that trade, Boston is likely out of playoff contention right now, like the Jays are. Of course, their mid-level signings haven't all worked--Dempster's a scrub right now, as bad as Josh Johnson. Probably explains the Peavy trade--Boston can't go into October with mediocrity like Lester, Dempster, and Lackey(he's been mediocre post All Star Break) in a rotation against elite teams like Oakland, Detroit/Cleveland, or Tampa.
