Arkadium Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Call me crazy but I think Redmond may be a slightly better option than Happ, especially until Happ is 100% again.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 You're crazy. Redmond has better control. Throws just as hard, if not harder. And is closer to his prime than Happ.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 14, 2013 Author Posted July 14, 2013 Redmond has better control. Throws just as hard, if not harder. And is closer to his prime than Happ. Have to admit - Redmond and Rogers both look pretty damn good
flafson Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Redmond throws 90, pretty sure Happ throws around 93.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Have to admit - Redmond and Rogers both look pretty damn good Yeah! 6 k's in 3 IP... though I think that's mostly nervous energy throwing off the hitters.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Redmond throws 90, pretty sure Happ throws around 93. Neg. Redmond averaging 91-92 (limited data). Happ 90-91. http://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfxo.aspx?playerid=7410&position=P&pitch=FA http://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfxo.aspx?playerid=9943&position=P&pitch=FA
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Our Wang looked pretty good for a couple of outings, then it went soft on us.

Pete_7 Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Redmond has better control. Throws just as hard, if not harder. And is closer to his prime than Happ. Neither one has good control if you ask me
Arkadium Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Neither one has good control if you ask me Well you'd be wrong. Redmond has exceptional control in the minors his entire career.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 lol 15k instead of 10? Sell him to a GM that's high for 50M and sign the Cuban pitcher!!!
flafson Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Redmond has okay control but poor command. He misses all over with his fastball but doesn't end up walking too many guys. As for being a better option than Happ... didn't you learn anything from Wang and Ortiz starting off well? Any random scrub can put together a good start or two. Redmond is not a Major League-calibre pitcher. Probably not but we shall see, you never know.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 Happ pitching tonight for Dunedin BTW
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 @DunedinBlueJays: We'll have live coverage of J.A. Happ's outing on http://t.co/iyqaOrVyNH and on AM 1340 WTAN: http://t.co/vXU8ueatBD. Tune in at 6:40!
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Happ, Romero, Drabek, Hutchison, Stroman and Nolin all at same time.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Good to see Happ on his way back. Speaking of rehabbing players, when will Cabrera be activated and who will go down or be dfa'ed?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Could be tomorrow or Saturday. Most likely it will be Redmond. So who would take Redmond's place in the starting rotation? I guess they don't have to make a move till he's supposed to start, but then it'll be Happ, then Hutchison. It'll be interesting 'cause the returns are coinciding with the trade deadline.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 My God that team has no friggin' offense though: @DunedinBlueJays: Peter Mooney hits a two-out double in the sixth inning, and the Blue Jays are in the hit column. Still trail, 1-0 in the 7th.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 I can understand why AA doesn't plan to trade for a starter right now. For once, we could for real have too many as of September.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 No... AA said he has to dominate AAA for 3-4 starts in a row, then AA will watch him pitch and if he does well then, a decision will be made Plus, you can leave him in the minors indefinitely this year, unlike some of the others Once these guys start coming off their rehab assignments there could be a serious roster problem.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Options check... Who among Morrow, Drabek, Hutchison still have options??? Hutch obviously does I guess (he was a rookie last year)
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Options check... Who among Morrow, Drabek, Hutchison still have options??? Hutch obviously does I guess (he was a rookie last year) Drabek was already optioned. Don't know about Morrow, but he's far away from a return. Hutch and Happ will have to be put back on the 40-man roster, so there will need to be a couple of bullpen guys traded or DFA'ed if they have no options.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Redmond might be enough to put the inevitable Sanchez for Bruce Chen deal over the top. Sell high on The Todd
