I would take Castellanos all day long over Porcello. I have no interest in seeing him get teed up every 5 days at RC, YS and Fenway. Porcello needs to pitch for an NL team with a huge park and a plus IF defense.

Porcello is a very nice pitcher for the National League West or the Oakland Coliseum. Castellanos is better option for sure.

I actually think the Tigers would rather part with Castellanos, but maybe I'm wrong. Dino org with no plan to move Miggy off 3B any time soon. I'm positive they'd rather acquire a closer without subtracting from their rotation. Trading Porcello also forces their best reliever (Smyly) into the rotation, which pretty much leaves them back at square one.

I'd be more than happy to get Castellanos. If we did does that mean Brett moves to 2nd?

Castellanos was moved to the OF

I'd be giving Jack Z a call to gauge Ackleys stock. He would be a decent by low guy IMO.

If they haven't soured on Ackley i'd also see what it would take to get Brad Miller from them as I doubt Franklin would be available.

Ackley's stock has definitely fallen, and AA had better not be paying as though it hadn't...

He was moved because the Tigers committed to Miggy at 3B. I would definitely plan on moving him back.

How does he compare defensively with Lawrie?

Wouldn't a bullpen arm like Francisco Rodriguez come cheaper to those teams looking to shore up the ninth? The Brewers have a bunch of relievers as well who they are shopping so it's not like Janssen is the only closer on the market. Really the two clubs that need a closer are Detroit and Boston.

I think we all here would as well, though I doubt Detroit moves Castellanos for a reliever. Possibly for a bigger piece maybe.

Ackely is a good buy low. It would be interesting to see the Mariners asking price.

One thing Casey has going for him is another year of control at a good dollar. K-Rod also seems to have a bad rap... he couldn't find a team and ended up going back to the Brews for peanuts did he not (doesn't have a 2013 contract value on baseball reference).

I'd love to get a hold of Ackley. The bat has plenty of upside and he's been a plus defender the two years prior to this.

They have zero outfield depth in system, they won't sell low on Ackley. They will keep him in OF and hope it turns around.

Why would they trade miller? They really like him and need a SS with Nick at 2B.

Lets think of trades from OTHER teams perspectives. Why in the works would Seattle Sell on bats with control? They won't, unless blown away. They will not trade miller and Ackley isn't a sell low guy, they will let him figure it out in their system.

Contract year for both GM and manager. We don't have pieces they would want.

You have to think they'd have some interest in a guy like Gose. They'll look for control, but they have some extra depth in the IF and we do in the OF. It would make sense. Both players have question marks.

The point here is that Ackley is like Gose to them... They still can dream on him, but he really doesn't have much value.

I'm all for grabbing Castellanos but I definitely think we would have to add another asset with Janssen. After all, we're talking about a relief pitcher here.

That's the beauty of trading relief pitchers, they bring back some quality players for cheap. I wouldn't trade Janssen for anything less than a high ceiling prospect.

Ackley and Gose are not comparable. Ackley tore up University ball, tore up the minors (for the most part), and hit pretty well his rookie season. Encountered some serious struggles for sure, but you've seen what he's capable of at least. Gose has always been considered a high ceiling risk, as you never knew if the hit tool existed.

What about for Anthony Gose straight up?

Gose doesn't have much value. 2,700 professional at-bats, never hit well. Miller has much more value, M's don't do that deal.

Trade Casey and slot Delabar in there and maybe even Santos once he's back/healthy.
