99% of the voters have no idea what rRC+ is.

 

Machado is basically the new Jeter. Prepare yourself for years and years of over-the-top dramatic stuff when it comes to him. Great, great player but it'll get nauseating after a while. Hopefully he keeps his nose clean.

 

imo machado definetly deserves to be there but yah longo is having a much better season.

Its the players who voted in Mac. They vote for the reserves ( or at least they used to). Its beyond stupid. They leave out Longo over a Rookie, but then they vote in Fielder on his life time achievement award and leave out Lind.

Machado wasn't voted in though, O's fans didn't stuff the box for him or anything. Either Leyland or the players (who love seniority) took Machado over Longoria, which is strange.

 

Maybe players just hate Longoria for signing a below market value extension on the basis that he didn't want to be the one guy on the team taking up the entire payroll.

If you look at the numbers, it's confusing how Machado made it ahead of Longoria. Sure, Machado has the doubles and is the slightly sexier pick, but Longo has 27 points of wRC+ on Machado and is a similar defender. Has been doing it for much longer too.

 

 

How is he sexier? As long as Longoria stays relatively healthy, he's a first ballot hall of famer. This is just confusing. I just looked up his year and a 148 wRC+ with gold glove defense is unreal. One of the biggest all star snubs ever for one of the best and most likable players in recent history.

Longoria is criminally underrated. If he was in a bigger market he'd be a massive superstar.

Machado seems to be the sexier pick because he's young and everyone's talking about the doubles thing. A month ago everyone was asking "is Machado as good as Trout/Harper?", which was wrong, yet people seem to still associate Machado with those guys. They think he's one of those young players you vote in regardless of seniority - but that logic only works if the player is indeed the best option statistically.

 

Longoria is having a better season and is a monster. And is a nice guy. Confusing.

 

Looks like yet another reason to hate the Orioles.

I don't really think this is about Longo vs. Machado at all. How in the hell is Zobrist there over Longo? Or Edwin for that matter. JJ Hardy getting voted in throws things off for Donaldson but still he deserved it over Peralta

Nothing screams "kids don't do PED's" like adding a guy who is borderline at best who was suspended last season.

Yeah, no doubt. He may hit 10 hr this year even after missing 2+ moths and I know it's a SSS, but so far his D is just fine with me.
