Frag Verified Member Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 With Demar off the floor, the ball movement is actually quite good. I blame Casey for this, too. DeMar may work better as a catch-and-shoot guard, even though he is a meh shooter. At the very least, his dribbling should be kept to a minimum. Too many ISO plays with him on the court. Still, his defense sucks.
crazy47larry Verified Member Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 yeah man when demar is off the floor we play some really nice team basketball. the ball is flowing and the defense is humming. thats about as positive as it gets right now. JV injury sucks big balls, Carrolls new injury sucks, & DeMar just plain sucks, but Lowry has turned the corner, CoJo is stepping up huge, & Biyombo is a very viable place setter for JV. oh yeah we also attacked the rack better when DeRozan was on the bench and ran way more fastbreaks. Lowry, CoJo, and Biyombo were running the floor great. the timeout plays have been superb. i am actually in awe of this. i dunno who is drawing the plays up but it is really inspiring.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 What's the timetable on JV? Probably out for the playoffs
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 I'm not a Raptors fan and I understand the team is not playing top tier ball, but reading this thread I'd have no idea the team is literally one victory away from the Conference championships. Someone post just one positive thing ffs. At least Lowry stopped sucking major balls, so that's nice. This team still has no chance against the Cavs, though, let alone the Warriors. Still, making it to a Conference Final would be tits.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Probably out for the playoffs Out of the walking boot, still limping but if they win this series I have no doubt he'll play the next.

I come into this f***ing cesspool of a thread once in awhile during a game due to mild curiosity and will see things like "game over" "ffs this team is garbage" "fire Casey, this team is going nowhere" and look on NBA.com to see that the Raptors are within like 2 or 3 points +/-.

That's basketball for you. It's a back-and-forth game where even a 20-point lead isn't safe. Plus, this series has been frustrating if you want good offensive basketball.

Would you be optimistic about the Jays if they were winning games with a bunch of fluky singles and passed balls? This team is playing absolutely fugly basketball and somehow managing to win despite it. It's cool if they advance, but there is nothing in the way they're playing that inspires and confidence that it can continue as the competition gets harder, especially now without (arguably) their best player.

Idk, I don't enjoy posting in GDTs so I generally don't unless Buck and Pat say something stupid or I want to troll Gruber. Generally, I don't really react. If the Jays don't do well, I still love the sport. Yesterday was just amazing, I don't even remember the Jays game. As a fan of the game, you live for those moments even if they happen against your favourite team.

JV has been awesome, but Kyle Lowry Over Everything. I don't really think it's even a conversation.

Hasn't Lowry been shooting under 40% for like 2 months now? I won't dispute that he should be the Raptors best player, and his success is the key to the team's success, but JV has been the better player in these playoffs.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Tell that to Rangers fans after last year's Game 5. lol Yeah I'm in no place to judge given the emotion involved, but I feel like, given time, I'd be able to appreciate that for what it was.

I wouldn't. I would just completely compartmentalize it, and then speak and think of it as little as possible for as long as I live. Like that Leafs game where they had Boston on the verge of elimination and blew a 3 goal lead in 10 min, or whatever that was. And I don't even give a f*** about hockey, so I can only imagine how upsetting that would be if it happened to a team I'm actually invested in.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Being at Game 5, though, I think actually took several years off my life.

As a fan of the game, you live for those moments even if they happen against your favourite team. basketball is wayyy more intense than baseball aswell. baseball is a 162 game grind for 3 hours every single day. sustained runs of success or failure are extremely hard to come by for 95% of the teams that arent great like the cubs or bad like the braves. basketball is based on streaks. teams streak in the season like the raptors and their hot start, and teams streak during the game like when the heat came back from being down 20 points. those moments are very intense meanwhile when i am watching baseball and i see tulo make an error or something i can brush that off much easier... then again in the playoffs i wouldnt. thats the reason actually. f***ing playoffs man. we live and die by every play. it will be the same if the jays make the playoffs this year.

Between ALDS Game 5 2015, World Series Game 6 2011, and losing the division on the last day in 2012, Texas Rangers fans' memories must just be a row of compartments.

I personally feel like it would be a bit hypocritical to be super positive about this team given my thoughts on the Orioles and the similarities I see. It's not a perfect comparison but there are certain aspects.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 OKC beats the Spurs! Durant almost assuredly going to stay now.
crazy47larry Verified Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 really surprised how the spurs collapsed. was looking forward to a GS-SA series.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Holy s***, I just found out Bismack Biyombo is 23. I thought he was like 30! Feels like he's been around forever.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 If there was any doubt about who the Raps most important player is there isn't any now..
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 lol a negative 30 rating when he's off the court is absurd.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 If there was any doubt about who the Raps most important player is there isn't any now.. That's pretty f***ed up considering he's shooting .335, just shows how much he drives the offence.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I can't buy anything that has Tobias Harris asthat good. I don't mean relative to the other guys on the list, just in general. Wtf.

Isn't it more of a statement on how s***** the rest of his team is without him? Nobody is going to argue that Lowry is better than LeBron, just that the Cavs don't need him as much as the Raps need Lowry.
