burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Clippers look Hungover as s***. lol they look like the Sixers out there. Raps playing really well too.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) f***ing get rid of Demar, I cant stand him or Casey anymore. The Suns have shown they like taking on random guards, maybe they'll give up Booker for him Edited November 22, 2015 by jays_fever
Swervin81 Verified Member Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 We scored less pts in the 2nd half than either of the first 2 quarters... for f***s sakes. Seriously, ISO after ISO after ISO after ISO... like, f***ing move the ball around. Good god, I swear, this team will be so much better off when DeMar is let go and Casey is fired.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Didn't watch but I see Ross had 0 points. Great extension Masai!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 How come no one's giving them credit for holding the Clippers to 80 points?
Frank Menechino Verified Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 How come no one's giving them credit for holding the Clippers to 80 points? Their "defense" was really just a product of the Clippers ineptness, and largely based on LAC missing uncontested 3-pointers.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Lowry has quietly had an elite start to the season. For as much as we s*** on them Raps have been pretty damn good this year. Top 10 team in the NBA so far.

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Lowry playing over his head in the first half? hmm...
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Yup. Right in the treadmill. Meh I don't think Toronto will every be a top NBA team based on the economics of the NBA so I'm happy being a top 10 team with a shot at getting the the ECF. I can't see another GM being able to lure a FA to Toronto better than Masai and if you tank you could be like the Sixers having to wait 5-6 years to get a franchise player. I'd rather be interested and watch good basketball than not even caring about the team because its a D-League roster for 5 years with a very small chance to get 2 franchise players in a draft. I understand people have different opinions but thats just my viewpoint.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I mean really only 3-4 teams actually have a realistic chance of winning the title this year. Outside the Warriors, Spurs, Cavs, Bulls/Hawks (maybe) you could say every team has no shot of winning. Warriors look like they can have a Dynasty. They don't even need to play the regular season lol. Edit: Could put OKC in that group too. Although after this year they're doomed.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 OKC, Memphis or Houston could probably win with everything going there way. Golden State built the next dynasty really with like able players, would be cool to see them have a 3peat
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 lol top 10 team? ECF contenders? Based on 15 games? Are we not talking about the same team with about the same core as the team that got swept by the wizards last year? We've only been playing okay because Lowry is once again having a stretch of games of playing over his head and Demar has an insane foul rate. Once that regresses we're still 1st/2nd round fodder basically.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Warriors built a dynasty off of the pick ahead of Demar Derozan. Don't see what relevance the "economics of the NBA" has, whatever that means
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Curry was what 9th, Thompson late lottery pick, Green second round pick I think, Bogut just some injured guy they grabbed for free, Harrison Barnes mid lottery, brought in a great all around vet Iggy to help compliment them. It's pretty hard to out tank some teams nowadays and get lucky with good picks in good years. OKC and the wolves are the only teams I can think of that have had success with it over the past 7 years,

JV had been really good before he got hurt. Cory Joseph and Carrol aren't starts by any means but are pretty good 4th and 5th pieces. If they still had Amir I think they would have a realistic chance at getting to ECF.

Don't see what relevance the "economics of the NBA" has, whatever that means Economics of the NBA is that star players want to play for big market teams and that aren't going to get a FA if they go back to being that s***** franchise. The Warriors got a ton of luck as well as being one of the smartest Front Offices. There are so many rebuilding teams that just never become good because of the landscape of the NBA. I think Masai is the best GM the Raptors will ever get so hopefully it works out.

JV's our best young piece but he still can't play defense or pass out of the post to save his life. The guy who's carrying us is almost 30 and is going to decline soon. The other star is on the last year of his contract and not even that good either. We're not even a mediocre team with a lot of upside... just a mediocre team.

JV and Lowry have flaws but they're very good pieces. Lowry is better than most #2 pieces on championship teams. I'd take him over guys like Klay Thompson, Kyrie, etc (in 2015).
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I'm glad I don't follow this sport intensely, fans would really bother me.

With everyone healthy I'd say they are a top 10 NBA team. If damn Demor the ar could consistently play the drive to the rim/pass/no mid range shots they have a little more upside. Obviously they aren't a perfect team or even a "great" team but like I said before with the NBA landscape there are much situations. If they blow it up like Philly you could be watching garbage for 5+ years and never get back to where they are now. Just curious for the people on the board how would you rank the top 10 franchises in terms of present and future value?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 A back-end top 10 team is still fairly mediocre
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I'm not advocating they blow up like the sixers anymore (they're probably passed the point of doing that). Just maybe not go with the exact same treadmill core as BC's... is that too much to ask? Maybe realize Demar is crappy chucker sooner and got some value for him instead of going into a walk year with him still on the roster. They even kept BC's coach... Not to mention 11 million for Terrence Ross ;_;
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Yeah if this team hadn't tied up money in Demar (speaking preemptively) and Ross they'd be in a good spot. Still not a great spot but better, at least.
