Caper Verified Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I was thinking today how at the time, both the Demar Derozan and Amir Johnson contracts seemed so bad...... that is all.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 when did Amir's contract seem bad
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Well Vasquez isn't the best defender and thats not what he's on the team for. It doesn't ,matter if he's an offensive minded guard, you can't just fly out at people out of control and give up a straight line drive to the basket. That play resulted in Amir getting his 3rd PF of the night
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 when did Amir's contract seem bad When he signed it. Even at the time, Amir said he didn't expect BC to offer him that much. They probably could have re-signed him for less because he didn't put up huge raw stats.
Caper Verified Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 when did Amir's contract seem bad Google it and read the comments from articles around that time... Very few people defended the contract.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Google it and read the comments from articles around that time... Very few people defended the contract. Huh. Well I was like 4 so I dunno but I loved it. Then again, I was (/am) pretty stupid...
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 How high do you go to re-sign Amir? If he is healthy I would give him 3-4 years at $12M per season. Perfect fit for the team and is a great defender who takes efficient shots. Those ankles seem like chronic injuries that aren't going away anytime soon though.

Can`t comment on Amir until the end of the season. You can`t commit that high of a % of the cap to a guy with those ankles (even if the cap is going up). Love Amir but he's 27 with the body of a 35 year old.

I wouldn't give mroe than 8 per year honestly. He means more to us than he would to the open market, plus we have extensions for Ross and JV coming up, together could cost around 22-24 per season
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 I think he'll take a discount to stay with the team honestly. He should retire as a raptor.

GV crying and s*** in press conference saying he wants to be here blah blah, holds out for 6.5 as a backup guard playing 20 MPG

If the cap is 90 million then 12 million next year would be like 9 million this year. The big ? is those ankles though. If he's healthy he is easily worth the 12 million but if hes only able to play 50 games a season that impacts his value a lot. I for sure wouldn't go over 4 years though. I think Ross gets traded. With the way extensions are going he can probably get 10 million and for what he brings that is probably too expensive if we want any cap space in 2016.

He has serious injury issues and hasn't been starting for that long. He isn't going to get paid 12M a year just because he's highly efficient. He's never averaged 30 MPG one time in a season. The only thing that might help him is that it's a pretty soft PF free agent class.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Heading to the game now. Not a huge fan of these Sunday night games... Sixers are probably already recovered from their hangovers. Get on them early and give the starters a rest.

Add that with his greatly efficient offensive game and he is a very good low usage player.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Sims is awful lol, can't believe I rostered him.
immature Verified Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Good start. JV playing some tough D.
43211234 Verified Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Will we see Bruno? Pretty sure he's inactive this game. so is Bebe.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Lol why does everyone have this obsession with Bruno playing? He would look completely lost out there and having him active in case we are up by 20 with 2 min left seems like a waste.
Caper Verified Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Pretty sure he's inactive this game. so is Bebe. Well that sucks.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 This game is incredibly entertaining to watch.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Joey Votto at the game OMG!!! Looking very Canadian with his full grown beard.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Joey Votto at the game OMG!!! Looking very Canadian with his full grown beard. Was it just me or did he look kinda fat? His face was huge lol. Is Philly ever bad. Clearest tank of a season I have seen in a while. They probably had some fun with TO's nightlife last night too.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Hayes is terrible. He might be the worst offensive player I have seen. But Raps are so deep he shouldn't really factor in. If the worst thing about this team is Chuck Hayes sucking in garbage time this Raps season will be a lot of fun.

I really don't see Ross being dealt, he is our best wing defender (non-JJ division) also is huge in spreading the floor. Take Ross out of the lineup and the spacing would be brutal for that starting unit. He is going to be a very good 3+D guy and is showing a bit more playmaking this year.

Well I would assume if they dealt him they would get an upgrade at the SF position and someone that can shoot the 3. Kyle Korver is a guy that I think would be a great fit. If Ross keeps improving and is willing to sign a below market deal then he would be good to keep but I'm guessing someone is going to throw some money at him and it will be hard to fit everyone under the cap. JV seems like he is the number one priority to get signed next year.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Was at the game tonight! Obviously the Sixers are terrible so it was hard to draw too many conclusions, but I was impressed by how efficient the Raptors were. The ball went to the open guy and they knocked down shots at a good rate. Good rebounding too. The ball movement has been amazing. The guards are also helping out with the rebounding much more as well which is a no brainer. Very professional win. Can't wait for Thursday vs the Bulls. Great test.
