GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Some potential offseason targets: -Thibs/Vogel/Jackson/Doc -Monroe -Deng -Randolph (PO) -Pau -Kirilenko -Granger -McRoberts -Humphries -Andersen -Okafor -Meeks -Billups -Parsons may be available for trade based on the Rockets' cap situation -We could trade up for a higher draft pick using our first this year and our Knicks 2015 pick as well as a first next year -Avery Bradley may be up for trade? Some opportunities but tbh not a ton of amazing fits. Also, Demar thinks we'll resign Lowry

Granger would be pretty sweet and we would have a quality replacement in Ross in case of an injury. Probably a better fit than Deng as well with his outside shooting

theblujay Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I'm proud of Ross for stepping up today after having a really rough series. Great learning experience for all of out young guys. I'm so really sad it's over. It was a great year.

Not sure how well Deng would mesh in with our current team. Signing him would also hinder any chance of getting Durant in 2016.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 We still need to find a superstar somehow, I don't want us to be the new Atlanta Hawks.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Watched the replay a few mins ago and some of the calls were hilarious. LOL @ that call against Deron Williams late in the game being given to KG so he doesn't foul out. So obvious that the fix was in.

He's on a great team and the OKC fanbase is terrific as well.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I wouldn't be surprised if KD leaves. said the Raptors fan in his KD shirt
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I haven't followed basketball in like 8 years. Are the Pistons still the only team of the last 20 years or so to win a title without at least 1-2 elite superstar franchise players? Mavericks 2006/2011. But i dont consider Dirk an elite star
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I haven't followed basketball in like 8 years. Are the Pistons still the only team of the last 20 years or so to win a title without at least 1-2 elite superstar franchise players? They had a fantastic team. Ben Wallace's defense was limited but he was a fringe superstar. Billups and Hamilton were both allstar worthy. Prince and Rasheed were both fantastic as well. One of the deeper teams at that time.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Mavericks 2006/2011. But i dont consider Dirk an elite star A top 50 player ever is not an elite superstar? What?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Mavericks 2006/2011. But i dont consider Dirk an elite star Are you kidding me? Dirk is a first ballot HOFer............ Ridiculous statement.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I think Masai ends up looking to package Ross in order to make a bold move. I think we've seen in this series that he and DD will never be an elite 2-3 tandem. Their games just don't complement each other well enough. Ross is a valuable chip and Ujiri is not afraid to make bold moves.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I thought Dirk was a top-10ish player. Is this not the case? In his prime, probably in the back end of the top 10. The teams he was on were all really well constructed to put the right pieces around him. As far as big men go, he wasnt in the same class as the Kevin Garnett's, Yao Mings, or Tim Duncans were
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I used to love that team. They just knew how to play basketball. Defense was always #1 and they were beyond fundamentally sound. Easy team to like.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Are you kidding me? Dirk is a first ballot HOFer............ Ridiculous statement. Theres more to basketball than just scoring. He asked for a team without an elite superstar, Dirk isnt a top 5 player in the league

He's led the league in Win Shares and PER multiple times..
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 This is insane, Dirk took a team with Tyson Chandler as their second best player and beat the Heat. He is every bit as good as Garnett.

He's led the league in Win Shares and PER multiple times.. His DEF ratings are all good as well because of the teams he were on. Any one can tell you Dirk wasnt a good rebounder for his position or defender. When you look at the superstars of the league, they all excell from a OFF/DEF usually can rebound pretty good as well. I just dont see how you can put Dirk in the same class as a KG or Duncan

I just dont see how you can put Dirk in the same class as a KG or Duncan By being one of the most unique and efficient offensive PFs ever? The dude is 7 feet and can get his shot off from anywhere on the court. And he's actually a pretty good rebounder considering the fact that a lot of the time he was behind the 3 pt line.

letsgobjs Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I was just taking a look at some players' WS/48, it's ridiculous how good Lebron James has been. Aside from his rookie year, every other year he's had at least .203. Chris Paul is right there as well.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Ross + 19 + Knicks '15 could land you a big piece imo. Not sure exactly what though. Hmm.. I like Ross a lot. He's cheap and has a ton of room for improvement. Personally, I don't deal him. I just don't know how he and DD can co-exist though. Ideally they do a sign-and-trade to bring in a legit #3 and Ross comes in off the bench. The defense against elite SG/SF is simply not good enough with Ross/DD out there fulltime.

You could try and trade up in the draft for one, I guess, but there isn't a ton out there, unless you want to sign Melo or Lebron or KD or some ridiculousness.
