Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Anybody who thinks Esmil Rogers is long-term rotation piece learned nothing from Carlos Villanueva. I'm just hoping a couple of Happ/Morrow/Hutchison make it back before the bottom falls out. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's probably a worthwhile idea to stretch out Cecil and give him some run in the rotation to see if he can carry over his new-found success and velocity. Worst case scenario, you blow up an effective relief arm; he isn't bound to be this good for long anyway. If he can maintain his effectiveness as a starter, that's obviously much more valuable.

Id prefer to trade Cecil to a playoff found team without a closer, like the Tigers. Porcello would look good here filling out the back end of our rotation.

If it were up to me, Id trade them both and just roll with Delabar, Stroman, Webber and Oliver at the back end of the pen to finish out the year. Then let Stroman try to grab a starting spot next spring training. But if we're only trading one, Id prefer Jansenn in our pen this year.

I'm not sure. Lately Esmil is looking a lot more legit as a starter than Carlos V ever did. I never believed in Villanueva as a starter.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Chien Ming Wang is definitely worse than Happ, Esmil Rogers is definitely worse than Morrow, and Rogers is very probably worse than Happ. Dickey Buehrle Johnson Morrow Happ Rogers Hutch Nolin Jenkins Wang Romero
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I hope Happ comes back and pitches well, then maybe AA can trade him and at least get a prospect back. It still won't compensate for the shitload of prospects he gave up to get him.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Silly poll Happ, if available, would replace Wang, not Rogers I don't think Rogers will reach that point due to his innings limit
