kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I didn't think Jose would be hitting second this long. I was ok with it because I figured it was just shakeup. But even Reyes comes back I see Melly moving down not Bautista. Melky can't even run right now either. Reyes Bautista Encarnacion Lind Cabrera Rasmus Arenciba Izturis Bonifacio Once Reyes is back, I'd still like to have Kawasaki in the lineup. He has essentially no power, and doesn't hit for average, but unlike Izturis and Bonifacio, he can work the count and get on base reasonably well. He's also shown himself to be a decent base runner. His range, and arm strength (or lack thereof) play well at second base. He's only played 39.2 innings professionally at second, but I'd like to see him get a shot there.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Reyes Bautista Lind Encarnacion Cabrera Rasmus Kawasaki Arencibia DeRosa Is probably my favorite lineup. Doesn't make a difference, I know, but I love lineup optimization for whatever reason. Just kinda interesting.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Yup, he'll be optioned and it makes sense......try to gain value out of either Izzy or Boni. I'm all for it, in this regard. The way they keep throwing Bonifacio out there at 2nd in spite of his poor defense and worse bat tells me they really want that to work out . Saki is perfect for the utility role . I think he would come in and work counts even when he only gets 4 or so AB,s a week and he is better defensively than those two . Still he will be optioned cause he has them and the others don't . I just hope AA can get something out of one of the other two
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 I'd be surprised to see Mooney on this club when the time comes. He's a decent utility guy. I was hoping for better this year mate, with Izzy and Boni. Boni has played well lately as has Izzy, the other nights forced error was his first since April 10'th(Bonifacio), yet in early April he cost us a few games. Here's to hoping one of the two gather value. AA is married to the Boni contract and he's never going to be willing to eat enough crow to admit that the Boni experiment s*** the bed, so we are probably stuck with that grinning POS.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Kawasaki at second base would be fine with me and I think most fans. But I doubt they do it. AA has already mentioned Kawasaki having options and a possiblity of being demoted when Reyes comes up. Unless they move one of Izturis or Bonifaco which is extremely unlikely. Who knows maybe the Angels will want Izturis back. This is a real shame if true Kawasaki is no all star, but he's more dependable than Bonifacio and Izturis IYAM

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 They were talking about AA's saber-savvy during one of the broadcasts in Chicago. To Hawk Harrelson, "batting average" and "RBIs" are saber stats.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Good point I guess, but AA barely uses those. AA is as old school as Hawk. Not surprising he has no idea what he's talking about, though.
