Perfect game:

Not pretending I know anything about this guy, but it's not fun to read "it’s entirely possible a team could take a stab at murphy in the top 10 rounds—though it’s highly unlikely he would ever go as early as the second to fourth rounds"

Or they are trying to save $$$ for Rounds 10+.

what is the point other than running the risk of other teams taking those players that jays are targetting at R

How many rounds are today?

June 7

12.30 p.m. - Live Draft (Rounds 3-10) on MLB.com

June 8

1.00 p.m. - Live Draft (Rounds 11-40) on MLB.com

As far as Murphy goes, I'm wondering if they had a pre-draft deal where he agreed to less money for the prestige of a higher draft round, only reason I can think of for taking him 3rd round.

I think we are over slot on our first two and this pick you'd have to figure they have a pre draft deal with Murphy but it's still an Oregon commit...that's not going to be hugely underslot even with the TJS

Anyone else starting to really dislike Brian Parker's strategy?

One guy on the upswing...and two guys that would have went higher if they were allowed to be drafted as 16/17 year olds. It's no different than our pro scouting...they love the former top picks who haven't had success.

I'm not going to pretend I know anything; but I'm assuming this is because Hollon may pull a Smoral and think he can do better given a clean bill of health?

They like the damaged goods who have tons of potential but zero floor.

Injured players are the new market inefficiency. lol

Hollon injury

Stilson injury

Smoral injury

Dyson injury

Murphy TJ surgery

Of the three you listed that are currently in the system, two are considered at least top 15 prospects in the system.

Ledbetter is married already...big mistake by the Rangers, everyone should know he's now on the downside.

Look at the well run organizations and see who they're drafting. Demeritte and Healy, to Texas. Unroe, Stanek, and Milone to the Rays. Denney, Ball, Stanky to the Red Sox.

If we were trying to save money I would have rather drafted a college player than a boom/bust injured high schooler. I would gladly have taken Jared King, Ryon Healy, or Myles Smith over Murphy.

I'd understand it more if they weren't paying them based on what they would have got if they were healthy.

I wonder if we'll take Cal Quantrill with our pick next round? Seems to be around the right area to draft him, and I really like what I've read about him.

next pick has to be a LHP who had been a top pick if it weren't for injury?

Probably this guy. lol

Christian Jones, lhp, Oregon. In terms of stuff, Jones has flashed high level upside. But he's still working his way back from last year's Tommy John surgery and he hasn't been able to use the same high level stuff he showed before the injury. He has as much upside as anyone in the state, but right now there's a whole lot of uncertainty about if and when he'll regain the electric stuff he showed prior to the injury.
