I'm not sure I'm a fan of taking the player who recently shot up the draft boards. I think I'd rather buy low on someone who fell, like Meadows. Too bad we missed him.

 

I think Meadows would have been there, we would have picked him. Sometimes players who shot up draft boards turn out pretty good. Noah Syndergaard shot up in his draft

10th pick. We were 9th this year, but pushed down one due to someone being unsigned last year higher up. That of course assumes no one from higher this year goes unsigned.

I think it's going to depend on how he finishes off the year. If he's lights out, we probably will be forced to let him walk. If he's good but not great, there may be the opportunity to resign him. If we're out of it at the deadline, we may be able to trade him for a bigger return than the picks would produce.
