Notes:

 

Padres::

• Jed Gyorko couldn't break the record for most homers in a month by a Padres' rookie, but he did have a big hit hitting a double to right center and scoring the tying run on the same play (advanced to 3rd on the relay to home by Boni, and scores on the error throw by Arencibia). The kid does love Petco a lot, as his splits show .347 average at home vs. his road average of .198. In his last 6 games against AL clubs he's gone 10/25 (.400) as well
  
• An issue for the Padres is that with their depleted pen, in AAA Erlin has only pitched past the 5th once. This could mean either he's going to have his arm die out on him or the tired pen will have to be used again tonight. The Jays could take advantage of this by getting Erlin to throw a lot of pitches, driving him out early.
  
• Yonder Alonso's out of the lineup with a right hand contusion after getting HBP by Aaron Loup last night in the 7th.
  

 

Jays:

• Edwin Encarnacion will make another start at 3B, his 2nd of the season and only the 3rd time in the past 2 years to make room for Lind at 1B. He's called E5 for a reason as he's made 113 errors in 665 games at 3B and has a -59 FIP there too
  
• Jays are 9-16 on the road this year and they have dropped 7 of their last 10 away from the Skydome
  
• Jays are 4-3 against the Padres all-time
  
• The Jays need Buehrle to go deep into the game, which he has, going at least 6 innings in his last 6 starts

keeping it upbeat. it's be too depressing before during and after games lately. GDT needs to lighten up and get a more harmonious start to games!!!!
