fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 "The Braves announced they have designated third baseman Juan Francisco to open a roster spot for southpaw Alex Wood, tweets David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Francisco began the season in a third base platoon with Chris Johnson, and even started three of the last five games at the hot corner. Francisco, 25, hit .237/.281/.420 in 320 plate appearances spanning 2012-13 for the Braves. They had acquired him in an April 2012 trade with the Reds, for reliever J.J. Hoover. Signed out of the Dominican Republic by the Reds in 2004, Francisco hit the prospect radar a few years later. Baseball America praised his arm and big raw power, questioning his aggressive approach at the plate. The Braves are talking to other clubs about potential Francisco trades, notes Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports." http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/05/braves-designate-juan-francisco-for-assignment.html I say we go for him. I call him the lefty EE, raw power, International FA signed by Reds, plays a bad 3B so they threw him at 1st and OF
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 It'll have to be a trade though. Other teams will offer too. But certainly is better than DeRosa. He's not going to cost too much to the Jays, especially vs. other 3B options
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I would offer up Izturis, see if they bite.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I would offer up Izturis, see if they bite. Izzy can't be traded until June 15th, barring a small loophole that the Jays may not wish to push.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Izzy can't be traded until June 15th, barring a small loophole that the Jays may not wish to push. What's the loophole? AA has shown he's willing to go to the full extent of the rules, but on the other hand, he does love dem promises.

Yeah, players have to give consent if it's before June 15th and they signed a free agent contract. I don't think MLB or the MLBPA would look on it too fondly unless Izzy really wanted out, so I'd be hesitant to potentially damage us further as a free agent landing spot for the sake of 2 weeks of Fransisco and no Izzy.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Yeah, then definitely not Izzy lol. Give 'em Michael Crouse or someone.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Jays aren't trading Izturis and Atlanta wouldn't want him. Give them a middling prospect and cash. Yep. Who would it be? Even when Lawrie comes back, Juan Francisco would be a nice bench player, lefty power bat off the bench that can 'play' LF, 3B and 1B
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 He's conveniently located at least. Hahahah.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Yep. Who would it be? In terms of middling prospects? Knecht, Baligod, Opitz, Crouse, Jacobo, Gabrywhatever (scrabble 3.0 lol), Griffin Murphy, maybe Ryan Goins?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 This is DFA guy I want. Hes got power and hes only 25. Upgrade for sure over what we currently got. Lefty EE, I'm telling you. We can make this happen, and if we can't, still a nice power bat In terms of middling prospects? Knecht, Baligod, Opitz, Crouse, Jacobo, Gabrywhatever (scrabble 3.0 lol), Griffin Murphy, maybe Ryan Goins? Hmm we have a lot to offer then.... AA better get him and Ackley lol
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Hmm we have a lot to offer then.... AA better get him and Ackley lol Francisco over DeRosa, Ackley over Boni/Maicer, Thole over Blanco would actually make a big improvement.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Francisco over DeRosa, Ackley over Boni/Maicer, Thole over Blanco would actually make a big improvement. No kidding, and it won't cost AA as much to get them vs. their cost at the beginning of the year. One is demoted and the other one is DFA'd
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I'd much rather keep Boni over Maicer, way more value and potential. Bench of Boni, Davis, Thole, and Fransisco with Ackley at 2nd would be great. The only, only reason I left that up for debate was because Maicer is signed to a multi year deal and may be hard to get rid of. That bench is actually pretty sexy, and Ackley at 2nd would be great.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I was suggesting Romero and some cash...even if the plan was to DFA him when Lawrie is back I'd be good with that.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Juan Francisco is gold. RAW pop Juan Francisco >>> EE
over500 Verified Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 he's not 35 years old. AA not interested.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Wat??? Raw pop but he suck, really suck
over500 Verified Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Wat??? His power is ridiculous. That's not to say he's better than EE
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 I'd really rather not touch the farm for him. For someone who's fringe I'd trade for him. I swear he's a carbon copy of EE, except a lefty. Big raw power
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 Juan Francisco is gold. RAW pop Juan Francisco >>> EE Ah, I was waiting for you to post so I can ask! Do you think this guy can be a next EE? You've seen him in the DWL
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Ah, I was waiting for you to post so I can ask! Do you think this guy can be a next EE? You've seen him in the DWL Francisco is the most dangerous hitter in the DWL. Great raw power, but he doesn't produce with RISP. He can't hit against lefties. Good option to play until Lawrie return and then send him to the minors ...... He is the type of hitter that Dwayne Murphy would love to have.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Brewers acquired Juan Francisco. He'll play 1B
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Trololol poor Fatcow Is Corey Hart not back yet for them?
