Metallijay Verified Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Tha Jays have their own Jessee Pinkman in lawrie, at least pinkman in Breaking Bad ends up being a very likeable character.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Maybe it's time to stop considering him a franchise player. My issue with Lawrie prior to his call-up was that if his D wasn't good enough to stick at 3B, his bat wasn't good enough to play at a corner OF spot. That still holds very true, luckily the D is not just good enough to stick it's very good. People have to stop looking for him to have a David Wright bat. His bat is better than what it is performing but it's not an all-star bat and I don't believe it ever will be. Time to start viewing him as a defense first 3B (who happens to play hard and will get injured often), no matter how he is portrayed to us. Watching his approach, it doesn't seem that he's far off from being a good bat, he's clearly got the bat speed, but he has a tendency to drive the ball into the ground rather than drive it or hit fly balls. He's definitely not selective enough, he often takes pitches he should swing at or swings at pitches he shouldn't, but I think that's something that can be taught (see: Lind, Adam). While I don't think that he's necessarily going to be a perennial all-star, the fact remains that he's 23 years old and has a lot to learn, but a lot of time in which to learn it... The potential is there, for sure. He could be a bit less of a douche though, I'd be fine with that.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 @Wilnerness590: Lawrie's shut down for a week, so he'll be out 2 or 3 weeks unless something changes. #Bluejays #Jays
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Seriously Brett "There's Heaven for a G"? Franchise player quoting lyrics from a gang banger. Great role model for the kids here folks. What's next, an Eminem tattoo? a) He might be poster boy, but Bautista is the franchise player as far as I'm concerned. Tupac was a lyrical genius, not a bad thing to have him as a role model. Give the song that he was quoting from a shot.

A guy who was shot and killed by rival gang members at a very young age is a good role model? You need to re-assess how you look at things. Being a great musician does not = being a good role model....
oakville69 Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I think we can all agree that AA is a pathological liar. I don't know why AA keeps saying that player X,W, Z will be playing when it's obvious they are hurt. I can't take him seriously when he talks about player injuries.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I wonder if he ever fully completes his transformation into J.P. Ricciardi and admits he's lied to the media before about injuries.

Hopefully he's learning to stop predicting when players will be available and saying stuff like this to the press. He should be more careful there.
