That is the bottom 4 of our order.

None of those people should be in the MLB :(

Have we called up another bench person yet?

Tomorrow. They will play a player short today and then move a BP piece soon (as I said probably tomorrow)

Nothing yet.

Maybe I'm wrong and they are going to continue to play with one less hitter for at least one more day. Buffalo is in Durham for one more night, if the move is coming from Buffalo, you'd think that they'd make it before the team heads north.

It's possible the Jays may just go with a short bench and let the pitchers hit rather than subbing players in. For all we know, there may be other guys in the overworked pen who are sore aside from just Janssen.

How valuable is the modern day big bullpen if you only end up hamstringing yourself in other aspects of the game?

Obviously the Jays are currently in an extreme situation with available pitchers, but in general, I wonder what the net usefulness is of being able to play matchups in the pen, only to limit yourself with pinch hitting/defensive substitutions because you're worried about running out of players.

It's really a good question. I guess overall it depends on our offense, which is humming along pretty good right now. In reality, we're probably talking about (essentially) throwing away 2 net ab's, albeit probably higher leverage ones. Is that worth more or less than a stronger pen? I don't know.
