An abyss? Watch baseball much? Have you seen Boni commit three errors and Izturis drop and easy pop up and throw away a dp ball at first, extending innings several times, costing us games? Have you seen the passed balls and the ATROCIOUS run of hitting under the mendoza line with RISP?

My point is that these things even themselves out. Did you see SF commit two eroors in the 1st innings two nights in a row, leading to huge innings that put both games away early? Have you noticed Melky, Bautista and several others starting to hit in the clutch? As bad as things were, they will swing just as dramatically the other way. It will take the pressure of guys like Buerhle and Johnson and allow the team to relax and start winning. The team started badly, but they've started just as badly before and gone on to win the division. Calling it an abyss when seven games under through 40 games is just a tad dramatic don't you think?

I've seen almost every game this year, so yes I've seen it all. The team wasn't ready to start the season, it was clear to me and others.

They certainly have dug themselves a big hole, I don't know what's outrageous about what I said. They were 11 games under .500 and now it's down to 7 games under, the point was that it was such a big hole they dug for themselves that after winning 7 of 10, they're still 7 games under with a tough schedule coming up.

They have to win series after series and we'll see where that takes them by the end of the month or mid June. I'm hoping they get to .500 by mid June, we'll see what happens.

Why are we even giving this mongoloid attention? Clearly your reaction is his only form of sexual satisfaction. Let the emptyhead talk to himself.

7 games isn't impossible to overcome. Only about a quarter of the way through the season, the Jays still have plenty of time to right things. Another good series against the Yanks and things start to get interesting again.

I agree with you. I never said 7 games were impossible to overcome. The point was that they put themselves in such a hole, by being 11 games under .500, that they'll spend the next few weeks just trying to get back to .500. It's not just about getting back to .500 because .500 won't get you in the playoffs, but I'm hoping they get to .500 by mid June or so and then they'd be another winning streak from being right in it.

At this point, if they were to play meaningful games in August and September, I'll take that.

That's what I do when someone i don't know insults me from nowhere. With a keyboard or without whether you like to believe it or not. Maybe you didn't see it start but starky or whatever the f*** his name is insulted me from nowhere when I was posting peacefully. Things escalated from there. Then all his buddies tried to rush to his rescue when hey saw how badly outmatched he was.

You would just lay down and take it?

Originality doesn't matter as long as he gets the point that you're an arrogant dick across.

I prefer the term cocky, but I'll take it as a compliment

Ohhhh someone ban him for racism. No one made any racist insults until this guy. That's crossing the line.

Imagine if the team didn't collectively (sans Jassen) s*** the bad. Get happ back and hopefully one of stroman, Nolin and Jenkins can hold the fort doen until Reyes gets back

People need to get realistic about Happ... he's not a guy who's going to help you climb the standings. But I expect Dickey, Morrow, and Johnson to be those guys. Buehrle I have no idea.

I agree with you bro. Every aspect of their game has been f***ing atrocious pretty much. But knowing the game as you do, you know that these things even themselves out right? At times, I couldn't believe how bad they were. In one game where we pulled a run closer against the sox, JPA allowed two passed balls to give the insurance run back, only to have one of our guys hit a solo jack in the eighth that would've most likely tied the game. They were shooting themselves in the foot at every turn.

See how the Sox were beasting it at one point? My friend at work is a fan of theirs and I told them they were going to bomb soon and he told me I obviously didn't watch much baseball. But looking at their team, it was obvious they were going to tank and to be honest, I don't even see them as a .500 team this year. My point is that extremes change and even each other out. what's left in between is talent, and the jays are bursting with it, whether it's living up to it's potential right now or not. But in most cases, it is talent and depth that takes over.

Look at Melky, he looked like an idiot for a strtch. He looked so off balance that people wondered if he was going to hit at all. All of a sudden, he is rifling line drives everywhere, to all fields. For a stretch, they were hitting just over .140 with RISP. Now, they are 13 of their last 26 with 30 runs in their last 3 games. The defence isn't giving games away anymore.

Defence...when you look at it? So far this year, our defence has been directly responsible for 6 of our losses. If you factor even 3 of thos losses out, it turns a 14-24 record to a record of 17 and 21. There are a lot of variables that have contributed to this atrocious start. But it has happened before and more often than you might think. A few years back, the sox started 2- 12 and ended up winning the division. The jays themselves started the season worse and came back to win the division. But talent alone tells you that things will improve drastically. I think we're going to see R.A make the biggest difference going forward. He is a true ace despite what some people think. If a guy like Wakefield can be successful in the East, Dickey will be much better than he ever was. Gotta believe that a guy like Johnson, with a career ERA of only 3.20 isn't going to struggle for long. Hopefully he pitches enough for us to make a difference is my only concern.

I truly believe that this team is built to sustain a few very large winning streaks over the course of a this season. I would not be surprised to see them win 10 in a row 3 times or more. The dog days of summer will tell the tale for this team. When JJ and Reyes come back, I think we'll see a more relaxed team, now that the dark days have passed.

Sorry if it seemed as if I was belittling you but that was not my intent.

This post was aimed at nik2013. Wasn't talking to myself again.

We know Reyes will come back which is huge. Getting JJ back will be huge as well for obvious reasons, but one has to wonder if he will come back when they claim he will. Remember, Santos started off with sore biceps or whatever it was and now will have surgery. Now I'm not saying JJ will have surgery, but judging by how off the Blue Jays injury reports have been this season, one cannot help but wonder.

I don't know how Happ is going to react mentally when he gets back on the mound after taking such a hard shot to the head. I've heard of pitchers careers being ruined because they were afraid to get hit again.

True enough. With his history, it makes me wonder as well. Replacing him will be an enormous bullet to bite.

Yep they are playing much better but I want to see how they fare against Kuroda and Sabathia in New York.

This next stretch is important with 3 series against division opponents (NY, TB and BALT).

Very true. the bats are strong. If the pitching can hold up, the jays could continue to improve.

I am shocked, but Gibby's new lineup seems to be working.

Jays have a shot at above 500 season.

Maybe it will help him throw the ball over the f***ing plate? For a guy who bitched and f***ing moaned about how he deserved a spot, he's shown command that rivals Romero's and he's not far off from being in Ricky's shoes.

Have a shot? Really? I have 1k or more that says they finish above .500 if you wanna take that bet. Any dependable gent willing to hold the money?

Why do people think .500 is the holy grail ? This

will not get us into the playoffs, a few games above

will not get us there.. we need 92 wins or there abouts,

this will nail down at least a wild card.

I don't really care about that, honestly we have many guys who can fill the role of Happ. He's basically a cannon-fodder pitcher who performed over his head for a month, nothing to get excited about.

I don't know what has got into Ramon Ortiz but I like it!

Luck and SSS, that's what. His first game wasn't great, he was extremely lucky. This game seems like the Giants weren't in the game from square one.

yeah pitching with an enormous lead is much easier than pitching in a tight game. The giants were out of it mentally by the second inning. Arguably even the first

the pitchers are starting to come around, dickeys getting hot.. ramon Ortiz was quite lights out today, im surprised he even got into the 7th.. the hitters are finally coming up with timely hits and having a little bit of luck on your side doesn't hurt aswell.

I 100% agree...

I myself am hoping the blue jays atleast have a 90 win season

im tired of seeing mediorocracy being ok in Toronto land.

its been this way tooo long.

time to step it up and expect nothing but the playoffs from every Toronto team.

It's just a goal to reach for. Once there it'll shift to the next one, presumably second wild card birth or moving up the division.

Because the team was as much as 11 games under and once you're such a hole, you have to take it step by step and not look too far ahead. When you're in said hole, you first want to climb up to level ground (.500) once there, you can think of flying!
