Notes:

Red Sox:

  • Jose De La Torre, with all the injuries happening in the Boston BP, has a chance to make his first MLB appearances out of the bullpen. The 27 year old Purto Rican player has pitched 7 seasons in the Mets, Indians and Boston organizations since 2006, and posted a 2.77 ERA and a 9.3 K/9 in those seasons.
  • Lester against the Jays is a good matchup for him, as he's held the Jays to the second lowest BAA against (.206) from an AL club in his career
  • The Sox are on a cold streak, ever since the series in Toronto, they have went 1-6 getting swept by the Rangers and dropped the 4 game series at home against the Twins. Currently they are on a 3 game losing streak.

Jays:

  • Josh Johnson's tricept injury will take him out until June, and Happ's aming for a return in 4 weeks time
  • Jays snapped Tampa's streak of 17 straight series wins at home by the Rays vs. Jays, despite dropping the last two games, they managed to tie the series. A series decision that isn't a loss that hasen't happened since Tampa's rebranding.
  • The offence is starting to take a turn, just as the starting pitching is falling apart. Now that the Jays have lost Happ and Johnson, plus demoting Romero and postponing Morrow's start, the offence finally decides to break out.

So I don't mean to be an ass as you obviously do a really nice job with these threads, but I think it would be nice to see a pitcher's IP and BBs thus far in the season somewhere.

Furthermore, it might make sense to post a player's ROS projections instead of what they've done thus far in the season. That's really the information we should be looking for. How can we expect each player to perform in the game. ROS projections (Zips/Steamer) do a better job of this than current season stats.

Just my 2 cents.

Going to watch the Mooseheads win the QMJHL tonight. MacKinnon and Drouin FTW.

I think either of them would be a better 2B or SS than what we're running out there these days.

No! You'd be an ass if you kept this to yourself :P. I am always looking for feedback man!

So what exactly do you want in the second paragraph? You want fangraphs projections for the pitchers? Or the batters?

Ramon Ortiz? Jays will need 6 runs minimum today to have much of a shot. Why not spot start Cecil who has starting experience and is pitching well this year?

He needs to be stretched out, you know this. Why bother even suggesting it.

Fangraphs is definitely the easiest place to get these projections for. Say what you want about their articles, their interface to updated data is pretty phenomenal.

Jays Pitchers:

They also just rolled out a new depth charts feature earlier in the week. Not sure if you want to incorporate any of it but there's some good info here too:

Fatcow, why don't you use the gif as your avatar? I've seen others use gifs, they seem to work on this board.

Huh on the first day it un-animated the gif

I guess admin changed it, I'll do so soon, I have to make a new one :P

Stretched out for mop up duty? I don't see the point saving him for the late innings in blowout losses ala two nights ago.

I can add the first thing, but the other ones would take up too much space to incorporate. Thanks for the links!

This is one of those games you expect to lose in a big way. If the Jays pull this one out it will be a miracle.

No problem.

Also, if you want to get rid of something, the historical batter/pitcher matchups don't mean anything (despite what Buck and Tabby lead us all to believe). So you could take that out and not lose any signal.

Y u doubt Ortiz!?!?

This is embarrassing when you consider that Ramon Ortiz is the best option for a call up in a series that would define our season..

Like who the f*** is Ramon Ortiz? I've only heard of this guy once back like 8 years ago in fantasy baseball when I needed to pick him up as a reliever.

Forgot about his VETRIN PREZENTZ. If Derosa gives a pregame speech could be a big win for the Jays.

They should have just went to a sick kids' hospital and let a kid fulfill his dream of pitching in the the big leagues.

This is know. I was derisively referring to his avatar. Though a quick Google informs me that I didn't spell it right.

Where's that twitchy midget Barry Davis when you need him? This information could prove lucrative. Get the god damned scoop Barry.

He hasn't been any good since 2001-2002 and even then was still kind of a shitbag. I don't get it.

AA looked at his 86-84 career record and thought "This guy is a winning pitcher!".

"derisively" shall be our word of the day.

Red Sox should start David Ortiz on the mound. Would make for a fair game and a good Ortiz vs. Ortiz matchup.

As opposed to the absolutely lopsided Ortiz vs. Ortiz matchup (hitter vs. pitcher). I can envision several HR's against Ortiz tonight. Some probably by Ortiz. Damn the Ortiz's.
