Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I said when the previous homestand started that they needed to go 5-1 or 4-2. Now, after splitting in TB, they need to win the series in Boston and then have a lights out at home where they have really stunk up the joint. Well, they basically need to play .600 ball the rest of the season. They have won 3 of their last 5, so they are still on course. A win streak would help ease that burden, but if they keep winning 3 and losing 2 they will dig themselves out of this, just will take a long time.
Rajaifailedgrade1 Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 You know what's sad? I just came to the realization that they only player I was excited for in the trades was Reyes (and maybe JJ). I never liked Buherle, and I thought Boni was going to be a 2B, switch hitting Davis (partially right). The Rogers trade was stupid and the Dickey trade was stupider. Had we gotten only Reyes and JJ, how much would that cost us in terms of players? You are correct, Reyes was the only decent player in the trade. MB is old and washed up, JJ is injury prone and Bonafacio is a utility bench player. Dickey was an enigma, and so far he's been pretty bad. Doesn't look like an ace. This team was overhyped by everyone
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Sorry, I don't read the GDT and didn't catch any discussions on TV during the game. But why wasn't Janssen used? Because Gibby was saving him for a save that never came. Instead he chose to bring in Lincoln with the game on the line in a game he really needed to win if he is even entertaining any ideas of this team digging itself out of this mess.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Team president shouldn't allow him to make any trades without his approval...which might be worse since Beeston is the president. I have a bad feeling Beeston coerced Alex into those type of moves.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Why not? I agree you probably shouldn't start an inning with your closer, but if the team is about to lose the game, should we bring in Lincoln or Janssen? No point saving your closer for a save that never comes. Would you as a manager even remotely assume Lincoln would go on to walk two batters in a row? C'mon
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Talk to his game tying homer! hit off a pitcher who never should have been in the game. how about we talk about him not making a single play right to let the jays come back from a 7-0 deficit? Escobar single handily ( no pun intended) gave the jays that win. with escobar you can get good, bad or really Fing ugly.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 RA Dickless gets destroyed by another AL team. Too bad he can't walk the 8 hitter any more and win another cy young you're about a post away form the ignorant list.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Would you as a manager even remotely assume Lincoln would go on to walk two batters in a row? C'mon With the Rays only needing a single hit to win the game, I bring in the best option I have period. You play to win games not for meaningless stats.

Rajaifailedgrade1 Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Remember when we had the best starting pitching in baseball? Halladay Burnett Marcum Mcgowan Litch Now it's all bandaids and injury prone guys, plus a knuckler that can't stop walking people

Also, I thought giving in to Longoria was a mistake on a 2-0 count. The same thing happened with Escobar, Delabar fell behind 3-1 and threw one down the pipe. Would Gibbons have walked Loney if Longoria was on 1st base instead of 2nd? Anyway, it's all too late now.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I have a bad feeling Beeston coerced Alex into those type of moves. I kind of feel that way as well. In either case, this team is f***ed.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Giving up 2 ER in 6 innings is getting destroyed? Holy f***. dude is on troll watch. he's posted nothing but lame hate. I've got 4 people on the list already. pretty much figured out who all 4 are from old board. I'm sure they'll get banned soon enough.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Look at that ERA, and his passed ball to tie the game\ You realize he is a KB pitcher and will have passed balls right? You trolling?
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Look at that ERA, and his passed ball to tie the game\ LOL you understand what a passed ball is right? A passed ball is an error on the catcher
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Meaningless stats? LOL So you would rather Janssen only used in save opps if it means the team loses more games?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Well, they basically need to play .600 ball the rest of the season. They have won 3 of their last 5, so they are still on course. It's hard to envision a winning streak with this pitching staff, but I certainly hope it happens.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I have a bad feeling Beeston coerced Alex into those type of moves. I have a feeling it was part Beeston pushing and AA panicking because he was getting NO from the FA he was trying to sign. canada+20 years of not being very good has made it hard to sign guys in their prime. plus the jays have the no long term deal policy. most big FA over the last couple have years have been getting big bucks and years that would make AA uncomfortable. a combination of bad things help this happen. I dont think his moves are as horrible as 13-23. a big chunk of that goes on the players being arrogant.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 We mortgaged our future for this fker, and he can't even go more than 7 innings... 5 fking walks? Thats our ace that we mortgaged the future for??? Really? Um, all these questions were asked when the trade happened.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Look at that ERA, and his passed ball to tie the game\ Really? I can hear the ice cracking under your feet bro. Have a nice trip.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I dont think his moves are as horrible as 13-23. a big chunk of that goes on the players being arrogant. The record goes on the players for all pretty much s***ing the bed. The state of our team, minors and finances falls on AA.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 LOL you understand what a passed ball is right? A passed ball is an error on the catcher hating on a knuckleballer for a pass ball is like getting mad at your dick for getting hard when you look at a hot chick. illogical if you're straight. Taka is a troll.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 So you would rather Janssen only used in save opps if it means the team loses more games? at the same time tho Casey could have come in, done his thing, and later in the game when a save opportunity arises, we're forced to bring in Lincoln. If Lincoln blows the save, everyone talks about how horribly Gibby managed his pen
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 The record goes on the players for all pretty much s***ing the bed. The state of our team, minors and finances falls on AA. I agree.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 at the same time tho Casey could have come in, done his thing, and later in the game when a save opportunity arises, we're not forced to bring in Lincoln. If Lincoln blows the save, everyone talks about how horribly Gibby managed his pen the whole situation probably never comes up with Gibbons lets Dickey pitch the 7th. then it's Oliver and Jansen for the win. Gibbons has not figured out that Dickey can throw 140 if he has to.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I have a bad feeling Beeston coerced Alex into those type of moves. I've felt this way all along. I mean, AA always spoke of acquiring young players under control who would be part of the team for years to come and then he goes out and does what he did? I, and suspect you as well, wouldn't be surprised if it was Beeston who contacted Jeffrey Loria to make that trade and then pushed AA to get Dickey at whatever cost just to sell hype and some tickets.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 He's right on this one. You don't use your closer in a tie game on the road. Why not? You do what you can to win the f***ing game. Janssen won't be needed tomorrow, so rest or saving him for the Sox series wasn't the issue.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 You realize he's overpaid, overrated, and we're stuck with this cancer for the foreseeable future? 10 games under .500 it's not even June yet, fans have the right to s*** on this garbage team.. #1moredecade..maybe? he gets paid 5M a year, go away troll
